Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The Church celebrates this feast in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Brown Scapular. In 1251, St. Simon Stock was at prayer when Our Lady visited him and bestowed upon him the scapular, saying:

“Receive, my dear son, this scapular of thy Order, as the distinctive sign of my confraternity, and the mark of the privilege which I have obtained for thee and the children of Carmel. It is a sign of salvation, a safeguard in danger, and a special pledge of peace and protection till the end of time. Whosoever dies wearing this shall be preserved from eternal flames.”

In order to share the merits bestowed upon the Brown Scapular, one must:

Shun sin and live chastely according to one's station in life

Say every day, if possible, seven times Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be

Strive to serve God by venerating Mary and imitating her virtues

Martha is not wrong to be annoyed that she has no help with her work – and that is work that’s never actually described in the Gospel, even though she is often depicted as cooking or preparing a meal – practicing the ministry of hospitality, the ministry of welcome. The NRSV translation that we use says that Martha is “distracted by her many tasks.” In the original Greek, Martha is distracted by diakonion – which is the origin of our word deacon – someone who works on behalf of those who suffer or are poor or ill. The work of the deacon is to take care of God’s people, to care for the world – diakonion means service or ministry. So Martha was complaining that Mary was praying and studying, but not putting in the work of the diaconate – and we don’t really ever know what work that is. And Jesus’ response is not to scold Martha – his response is compassionate. Martha, Martha, he says – not just once – you are worried by many things. Be at peace, he seems to be saying. You only need one thing, that which Mary has chosen – listening to the word of God – because everything else, including Martha’s work, comes from that.

YUP! Another Marian feast day post :D

Today is the feast day of Our Lady Of Guadalupe, an apparition of the blessed virgin Mary that appeared to St. Juan Diego in 1531

Mary appeared to Juan and asked him to tell the bishop to build a chapel, when the request was taken to said bishop, proof of the apparition was demanded. So Mary told Juan to collect roses from a mountain top in the winter. When he gathered the miraculously bloomed roses in his tilma (a cactus fiber cloth), he opened it to suddenly reveal the mystical, supernatural image of Our Lady Of Guadalupe!

But that's not it, there's TONSSSSS of things to unpack in the image of our lady; here's a picture that tells about some of the studies made about the Virgins image

Other facts about Our Lady:

The tilma seems to be indestructible, staying perfectly in tact for over 400 years despite the cloth usually deteriorating in 15-20 years due to it's fragility

On that note Our Lady as also survived a bombing and an acid spill

The tilma remains at a temperature at of the average human body

There was a HUMONGOUSLY mass conversion to catholicism after the apparition and in the many years to come after it

the image has been deemed almost unhuman and 'impossible', scientists studying the tilma reported that there is not one singular trace of any sort of product that could have drawn the image whatsoever. Its just there

It's been discovered that when certain calculations and other nerdy stuff I can't comprehend was measured in the grid of music notes, the stars on Mary's mantle actually creates a perfectly arranged song ... Literally music from heaven

Mary is not even in or on the tilma 😭, the image FLOATS on it microscopically !!!

Our blessed Mary appeared as she did to spread a message of love, hope, faith, and unity, as she will appear to the people as whatever race and/or culture they are because she is the Mother of ALL her children across the globe, for Mary is the Mother Of God (Theotokos) and God is for all!

Do we understand the true meaning of these verses?

A shadow points to something temporary.

Paul is talking about (ceremonial sabbaths) aka feast days; which were holy convocations unto the Lord, and on them was given a burnt offering, a meat offering, a sacrifice, and a drink offering, which all pointed to Christ death. Lev 23:33-39.

It is not, however; including the weekly seventh-day Sabbath which points us back to our Creator; because we will also be keeping the sabbath in heaven. Gen 2:2-3, Exo 20:8-11,31:16, Isa 66:22-23.

Fun thing about living in Mexico, during any big Catholic holiday (commercialized or otherwise), they always take the opportunity to over-use fireworks.

Sometimes, I see them when I'm on the treadmill at the gym and they're doing a show at the cathedral downtown. Other times, I hear them from the other two big cathedrals on the east and west sides of town. As if they're entering a turf war. And usually they start at 7pm and don't stop until, you guessed it, midnight.

I'm all for a feast day celebration and a Christmas celebration, but let your girl sleep. Por favor. ✌🏻

So today is the feast day of St. Joseph of Cupertino, who is the patron of aviators & pilots. Today also happens to be the birthday of the US Air Force. Providence or was someone in the Department of Defense in 1947 really smart and sneaky?
