Ready To Leave

I am so ready for Colorado. There has been a slow gathering of negativity swirling around and it’s making me physically ill.

I made a huge pot of gluten free chicken noodle soup today. I’ve been slurping soup, taking vitamin C, and drinking lots of tea. I soaked in a steaming eucalyptus bath while Two Door Cinema Club played in the background. After a few deep breathing exercises I feel relaxed and content. 

I leave in 4 days for Rocky Mountain National Park. I can’t wait to be up in the cool mountain air, surrounded by absolutely stunning views, soaking up sunshine, and climbing up rocks. 

Hiking, kayaking, biking, yoga, record stores, museums, voodoo donuts, outdoor concerts, picnicking, star gazing, beautiful people, herb

4 days and an 8 hour road trip. 

Fill my body with positivity and love.

you know, i never compare my skill to others

i know that a lot of people devote a lot of time to this and other games and have a lot of talent that they’ve honed and perfected.

This is NOT how you hold a racquet.

Granted, yes, there are times on the court when you cannot afford to play safe, but when your racquet is designed for catching and tossing instead of hitting and deflecting, the force is greatly diminished by the concave net no matter how hard you swing.

Emily knows that. She knows that very well.

She isn’t a Star Wars fan -- she wouldn’t admit even if she did enjoy the lightsaber duels. Her team gathered around for a Star Wars marathon night and she attended, glad to be there as everyone -- almost everyone -- indulged in indulging food and irresponsible amounts of alcohol.

Early into the fifth episode where the Empire Strikes Back, she excused herself from the room and grabbed her keys. She went straight to the car.

Leia and Han were infamous. You didn’t need to watch any of the movies to KNOW they are THE couple. However, for some reason, the scene where Han backed Leia into a corner left her skin crawling. She would’ve looked pale if not for the residue of makeup from the morning.

Like tennis, exy now also has an automatic shooting machine for players to practice on their own. The striker has a long grip on her bright orange offensive racquet. She might’ve been better off with the goalkeeper’s flat one instead.

Her wrists are sore but she isn’t anywhere near satisfied. Three rounds of an only one-third filled machine firing at her, and she deflects every single shot with intention to break something. Her gear, her equipment, or her bones.

The court is silent and the bright lights shining horrendously white upon her. She doesn’t look up at the clock. She doesn’t want to know the time. She wants to feel her muscles scream and her legs buckle. She wants to feel that exhaustion right before conking out at a careless blink.

My reading: Arwel is just another white cis oblivious, privileged man. He thought the elephants were our little inside joke specifically for him. He never bothered to learn what they meant. With his obliviousness and his male privilege he assumed it was all about him and began a very dangerous game. And if that ends up being true he very much needs to understand that.
