What are good resources for cleaning a home after feline panleuk/feline distemper. I used to have 3 indoor cats and yesterday one of them (3 years old) suddenly started to crash in health. Took him in to the vet, found out the worst case scenario, and came home without him.

Now I feel like I can't even really grieve because I have to worry about the other two (14 and 3) to monitor. The vet who saw my late cat told me to bring in the other 2 on Monday to give them a booster.

I can't do anything and but clean and wait.

The only disinfectant that is confirmed to work on parvovirus is bleach.

Remove your cats (and yourself, and your family members) away from the area before dousing bleach.

Please refer to this website for more information. The website will talk about CANINE parvovirus, but the FELINE parvovirus that causes feline distemper has practically the same structure that makes them able to endure most disinfectant, other than bleach.

My baby has feline distemper 😭

We had to bring him back to the shelter’s animal hospital for treatment. I hope he pulls through. It hasn’t even been a week but I love him so much. ♥️

Do you guys remember me mentioning that new little kitten we rescued that looks like a cinnamon roll???!! I’m calling her Cinnamon but I guess her name is Jetson....anyway, she doing pretty good the other farm cats love her and she is full of spunk!!!. She’s also SUPER relaxed when you hold her, reminds me of Tigerbelle!!! I’m still treating her ear mites (with olive oil and her ears are clearing up pretty well) and cleaning her eyes and I’m going to see how much it would be to get vaccinated for Distemper today. I guess the cats in the area were feeling left out with the dog distemper outbreak a few months back, because now we have what's very likely a litter of 4 kittens with feline distemper.

And they came in 30 minutes before closing.

Lost my favorite idiot to feline distemper yesterday. I'm scared for the other two and all we can do is sit and monitor them until Monday.

It was just so sudden. They're all indoor cats, with Ashy coming from a shelter, Riley having been a former stray, and Ivan is my childhood cat.

Ashy was only three and he just crashed so fast. Thursday, cuddly and chatty and hungry. Himself. Friday morning, didn't eat breakfast. Friday evening he couldn't get off the ground and did not come home from the vet.

I'm numb and sad. I don't really feel like I can even really mourn Ash because now I have to be scared of losing the other two. It's just sit and wait and I hate it.
