Aya didn't want him there herself, back when he only started spending some of his evenings here. Why would she? Having a Shinra employee at their hideout should equal to inviting trouble, as if her having to look at anyone from this company, positioned higher than a poor office clerk she was, wasn't enough of a reason. But she trusted Tifa, who grew comfortable having him at Seventh Heaven rather quickly, for whatever reason. What was an act of tolerance out of the goodness of her heart, turned into a monotony - something she just got used to eventually. Someone not only seemingly harmless, but expected to drop in from time to time, even if their interactions were limited to her nonchalantly greeting him back whenever he visited the bar.
Juno: Don't worry about them. It's not worth it.
His voice directed both her and Jessie's eyes towards Tifa, who looked at a particular pair of clients with growing distaste in her eyes, slowly turning into hatred - a sight so rare, that both sisters - her closest friends nowadays - could never realistically get used to it. They weren't having it as well.
She never really felt the need to stand up for him, as the worst he had received up to this point were judgmental looks and some hearsay she overheard while she was taking care of her usual business, as much as he could surely feel these things on his skin whenever he was in the vicinity of the place. The thought of it felt icky. There was no one who would stand up for her when she needed it, and aside from the word around the undercity, ever since she had left Shinra in the first place, she had managed to hear a great deal of awful stories about Madam Director from her own girlfriend, during one of their multiple heart-to-hearts. Technically, she shouldn't have a reason to care.
But these two were overdoing it.
Tifa's tired eyes looked towards the sisters for support. Aya had already made her decision.
Aya: Jessie, come with me?
Jessie: With pleasure.
The anxiety on Tifa's face was nothing, compared to what Juno felt, torn between stopping the girls and letting Aya do what she wanted, unable to get a reading from her dead eyes, as ever.
In a blink, the girls were already at the table.
Aya: Gonna have to ask you both to leave.
Client #1: Come again?
Jessie: Don't you think you had enough?
Client #1: And what's your problem, exactly?
Aya: Talk all you want, but no one needs to actually hear your shit. People come here to relax.
Client #2: I don't see you having issues having this Shinra scum here.
Aya: Not him causing all the ruckus, is it? Instead, it's two grown-up guys on one, acting like you're not antagonizing him - so tough and brave of you.
Client #2: You're capping for Shinra now?
Client #1: Gonna run and file a complaint?
Jessie: You guys are really this clueless, aren't you?
Aya: If you knew who I am, it would likely be the rats like you, who would gladly run to Shinra to tell on me. Doesn't matter. As far as I'm concerned, he minds his own business, while it's you two looking for attention. So you got it.
Client #2: I remember when this place was supposed to help people relax from their daily lives.
Aya and Jessie looked at themselves amazed by the lack of self-consciousness.
Jessie: This isn't going anywhere...
Aya: Okay, so how about this? You're talking shit about a random, for all I care, woman in my presence and it's beginning to piss me off.
Client #1: Feeling sorry for her?
Jessie: Try "aware that you weren't taught any respect", from what it seems.
Aya: Not sure if you noticed, but this is a woman-run business.
Jessie: Calling your momma a 'whore' too?
Client #1: You better-
One of them tried to get up to threaten Jessie, before the sight of Aya's combat knife centimeters from his face stopped him dead in his tracks and caused him to slowly sit back down. As discreet as it was, it turned Tifa's attention towards them.
Jessie: Next time you try to start something, you might wanna look around and see if you stand any chance. You never know who might approach you or what they keep in their pockets, or in this case in plain sight... *taps the automatic pistol strapped to her thigh*
Aya: You're not welcome here anymore. Now's your chance to leave on your own, so we don't need to make unnecessary mess.
The girls looked at each other, with Jessie nodding at Aya, before they both gave the men space to get up and leave. There was no trace of smugness on the clients' faces anymore, as they were telegraphing their moves clearly and slowly proceeding to leave.
Jessie: All clear.
Aya: Finally... Juno, beer? This one's on me.
Juno: Sure, thanks.
Aya: Jessie?
Jessie: Yes, ma'am.
Hearing them, Tifa went towards the fridge, but Aya was ahead of her, already having joined her behind the bar.
Aya: I got this.
Tifa grabbed her forearm, causing her head to turn back towards her. Her orbs looking into a pair of fellow red ones.
Tifa: *whispering* Thank you...
Aya nodded at her with a smile, after which she placed the bottles in front of both Jessie and Juno.
Aya: Sorry you had to hear all this.
Juno: Don't mention it. Stuff like this doesn't really affect me anyway. I really appreciate the help, though.
Aya: Still, there's no reason anyone should hear shit like this. We have a policy here to keep things friendly, but you understand how it has to work both ways, right? Our hands are... tied at times. Hope it didn't affect your opinion on the place. Tifa's doing her best.
Tifa smiled at her older friend's words.
Juno: *chuckles* She really is. It's okay, don't worry.
Aya: Just making sure you still feel welcome here... Don't take whatever you heard to heart. Feel free to drop by and relax anytime. That's what this place is about, after all...
On the way to her stool, Aya patted Juno on the back, and joined him and Jessie for another drink.
Aya: And just in case - we've got you.

Juno belongs to @jpineapple1011 ^^
Got called in early…
Didn’t feel like rushing home, so I decided to….
…come back to my OC, Juno.
He’s been on the metaphorical back-burner 🙂↕️
I definitely need to set aside some time for him….
*Kind of took some creative liberties with his uniform. Not sure if Shinra issues hoodies, or boonie hats, or uses jungle camouflage patterns, but I figured it’d make sense, since Juno is a Shinra Marine, and his time was spent in the jungles of Wutai

Juno: Madam Director, I have a confession to make…
Scarlet: Go on.
Juno: I’m confused.
Scarlet: Huh, and water is wet? Did that come to mind as well, hmm?
Juno: You’re disappointed?
Scarlet: Mmm…. Let’s just say your little admission makes you smarter than half of this damn company…
Juno: 🥹
Scarlet: Ugh… Just leave the thinking to me. Come now, chop, chop, we have a morning briefing to attend to. And also, did you fetch my coffee?
Juno: A large Junon brew from Chocobo-Bros with a few shots of expresso, and a cherry croissant from the canteen, saved from Palmer’s greasy hands.
Scarlet: Mmm, good man… And my notes?
Juno: The ammo shipments, with their statements, from Icicle Armories, and the estimates for next year’s planned projects, and-
-
Juno actually does a lot of smart stuff. Scarlet just doesn’t tell him. Unlike her, he doesn’t take praise too well 😅
Another item to deal with on Director Scarlet’s never ending agenda.
A quick sketch prompt from Reddit, “Dancing.”
Been having no ideas lately, so I wanted try one out.
Don’t mind the notes, lol
-
Before a Shinra gala, Scarlet always ensures that her assistant, Juno, is ready to dance if need be, because after all, she is a woman of standards, and her assistant is no exception to those standards.
I get off here…
-
A little angst story, skip if you’re not in the mood 😢
Juno walks in, and just as he opens his laptop, Scarlet drawls out, “Mmm… You smell rather sweet, cotton candy, I’m guessing?
She didn’t know, but he liked some of the more ‘cute’ smells in his apartment.
But he couldn’t tell her that, no….
What would she think?!
He needed to say something.
Suddenly idea came to mind.
-
“I was just at the Honeybee Inn!!”
“…..”
“…..”
After a high-level meeting with some potential investors, Scarlet and Juno were in Insomnia, seated at a table for two overlooking the city skyline…
Scarlet and Juno were being treated out by King Noctis and Queen Lunafreya, but as they’re being served Juno is remembering some things…
-
As always, Juno was in awe…
Never did he think he’d ever go beyond Midgar, much less ever be able to sit within one of the fanciest restaurants he’d ever seen, and even more, with one of the most amazing women he’d ever known…
Scarlet…
But despite all this, it wasn’t never enough for ‘them.’
His parents…
A waitress came by with a bottle of wine, and a frosty bottle of Shinra-Cola…
Scarlet: Ah, thank you, darling… Do extend our gratitude to his Highness, Noctis, and of course, Queen Lunafreya…
His dad’s words echo out….
“You’re lucky… We had to haul our own water… You don’t understand how it was for us…”
As Juno sipped his Coke, he thought of his younger self on some distant battlefield, out of water, drinking from some puddle, but it didn’t do much…
As the soda washed down his throat, Scarlet was cackling as the waitress said something about his drink choice…
Waitress: It’s kinda cool…
Scarlet: Adorable isn’t it?
He liked a cold soda here and there…
There was nothing wrong with that, right?
“You’re spoiled, son…”
Then the waitress left and another came out, a woman with blue hair, and with her was a delicious salmon with garlic mash potatoes, and a cheese burger with fries…
Another pleasant and unexpected surprise that came with working for Scarlet was the burgers…
Never did he imagine that burgers could be so delicious….
His stomach grumbled, his mouth salivated, but once again, words echoed out…
His mother…
“It must be so nice to afford such nice food… I know you don’t like me asking…. But could you… To treat your mother out…”
Suddenly his burger didn’t seem so appetizing, but once again, he thought his younger self….
Some nights in Wutai, all he had was rations, and then some nights, he was so hungry…
So much so that he wanted to cry….
He took a bite, and it was delicious…
He loved how the grease coated his lips, and how the flavors of the meat and seasonings washed over and lovingly caressed his tastebuds….
Glancing up, he was met with the waitress winking at him, and his boss humming and blushing as she took a bite of her steak…
As the waitress slyly slid a blue-lipstick stained napkin beneath his plate, he couldn’t help but wonder….
He earned all this, right?
“You….well….today….Juno….”
Juno looked up, forcing a smile on his face.
Juno: Sorry, but come again, Madam Director…
Lowering her fork, Scarlet gently dabbed her lips, and then met his eyes….
Scarlet: I said you did rather well today, and coming from yours truly, that’s quite an accomplishment…
Suddenly the voices were gone, his chest warmed, and his once forced smile….
Was now small, and yet, it was real….
Scarlet’s purple eyes glanced towards his burger and his fries, and with a smirk, she took one….
Scarlet: As much as I disagree with your, ahem, ‘humble,’ palate….”
She batted her lashes, and then her red lips curled into a smile of her own….
Scarlet: You’ve earned this, Juno…
And with that, she parted her lips, and in between each bite, she mumbled out….
Scarlet: Every…single…bite….
Suddenly his appetite was back, his cheeseburger was the most delicious looking burger in all the realms, his Coke was as frosty as Sheva’s lips, and he was sitting across from one of the most, if not ‘the’ most amazing woman in Midgar…
Juno wasn’t spoiled….
He wasn’t lucky….
He’d earned all this…
After all, she said so…
His Madam Director said so….
Juno: Thanks…
And a soft smile, she simply waved off his ‘thanks.’

They enjoyed their meal.
