Oh Turk Vincent with the emo hair you will always be famous to me
"Old friend... I miss you so much. I'm so sorry."
HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY VINCENT! CONGRATS ON BEING OLD AS BALLS!
no one tell him that balloon is re-used from my birthday ok
Lazard: That's it, you're grounded! Sephiroth, no adventures for you! Angeal, no fighting for you! Zack, no stealing for you! And Genesis... oh my god, is there anything that you love?
Genesis: Revenge.
Lazard: No vengeance for you.
Genesis: I was going to say "I'll get you for this," but I guess that's off the table.
a broken elegy
for @gengealweek2025
Genesis wanders his mournful way into a forgotten church, and fifty years after finds himself bitting into much more than what he bargained for.
Day 1 - [Harvest Season]
Genesis stands at a grave, like a broken elegy.
He crosses its tearful waters on foot, letting them soak him, rather than simply flying to the other side.
The metal of the blade against the palm of his hand feels cold to the touch, making him shiver. Though perhaps it’s more its presence than its temperature; everything it ever meant and every battle it never faced, the weight it posed whether or not it was drawn against an enemy. Funny thing to think about when it looks so mysteriously pristine in its resting place.
Perhaps… it’s the place itself, keeping it safe. Not so much unlike him, being forever haunted by memory.
Genesis sits down next to it, but not really enough to touch.
Now… what is one even supposed to do at a grave?
[Read it fully on AO3!]
deep breaths.
i'm so normal about this face reveal guys
i didn't immediately imagine the scene from the opening of dirge being completely recontextualized, with hojo using nero to either capture or kill escaping civillians.
and yuffie and vincent having fight him time and time again, with vincent winning and nero being completely baffled. the climax of the scenario is on the tower, where vincent arrives before hojo can start the upload of his mind.
and then this happens.
( it end with them stopping hojo from uploading himself into the network because vincent has just enough foresight into the future to tell nero he doesn't want to fight and he will rescue the brothers from deepground. )
Let’s Talk About Vincent and Tifa!
During the Rufus discussion, the Vincent and Tifa being related theory came up. This one has a bit more weight since one of the original concepts was to have Tifa and Vincent be related.
So let’s play! Any opinion or thought is valid, just keep it nice. No fighting - we’re all friends here that enjoy the fandom.
This chart appears in the Ultimania Archive - Volume 2 (the one that has VII, VIII, and IX in it - even though VIII got the crap treatment, but I digress). It seems there was a thought to have Tifa and Sephiroth (who looks an awful lot like Vincent) be siblings. Now, I don’t think they’ll do that... Vincent was 27 when Hojo shot him, and I think he’s about 57 when FFVII takes place. He could absolutely be an uncle, though. Most likely on Tifa’s mother’s side.
Just because I thought this was a good shot of the red eyes. Don’t worry, I’ll be pulling in the Young Turk Vincent.
And OG Tifa
PSPSPSPSPS
Oh, Vincent... you were so wronged.
And here we have Eternal Sin Vincent. I think once we get a Remake image of Vincent, we’ll be able to compare Tifa’s Remake model to Vincent’s. But, even with this, it’s clear the similarities. Vincent even has that bomb fat bottom lip.
And of course, Tifa. There’s that bomb fat bottom lip that Cloud was staring at.
Oh, how’d another Turk Vincent picture slip in... OH WELL.
So, red eyes don’t seem to be common. The only two three people I can remember that have them are Vincent and Tifa.
Who’s the third? MAYBE Johnny. It’s hard to tell. They aren’t as obvious as Tifa or Vincent’s, but they are a different color...
This son of a bitch moves around A LOT. He’s a pain to screenshot. Do I think Tifa is related to Johnny? No. I really hope not, anyway... guess we could have a similar Luke/Leia situation..
Yuffie has dark brown/black eyes - that was the first thing I checked.
The only time that Tifa and Vincent weren’t presented with obvious red eyes were in Advent Children. I’m not sure why they did this, but they obviously brought it back after that, and with Remake, they made it very apparent.
So here’s my thought: Red eyes symbolize something - either a lost race of people, similar to the Cetra, or a genetic mutation meaning something else that has slowly disappeared. Vincent and Tifa both seem to have an ungodly strength about them.
I also think that Vincent and Tifa are related - most likely on her mother’s side - since her father looks like Ashton Kutcher.
So Brian Lockhart’s eyes are hard to see in the picture from the Ultimania. I’m not sure if that’s on purpose or not. I’m sure we will have a clearer view of him in the next part during the flashback. Hopefully we can see if he also has red eyes.
In any case, I do think they’ll do something to call back to the original Tifa and Vincent are (Siblings?) - but with him being her Uncle or something.
I’d love to see how it’s revealed (if it is).
I’ll take two brothers with questionnable designs and a dubious relationship.
