​not exactly, but kinda!

you can't give someone the permanent ability to make polls themselves, but if you submit a poll to someone, they can edit it however they want and then post it! that's what I've been doing, because I don't actually have poll powers yet

3. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written from Ruins?

A few. I think maybe my all-time favorite is actually the Solas alternate POV I wrote for Chapter 2. It absolutely broke my heart to write it (in the best possible way), and I’m still really happy with how it turned out. I also got SO many comments/messages along the lines of “how dare you,” which always feels like an achievement.

I also love the scene under the vhenadahl in chapter 11, the scene where Felassan and Lavellan interrogate each other while also fighting chevaliers in chapter 13, and Solas and Lavellan flirting at the beginning of chapter 16. I’m also really excited about the first scene in the chapter I’m currently drafting.

(Actually, thank you for this lovely question because I often feel defeated about my older writing and thinking through this answer made me realize there are plenty of things I’m very proud of!)

9. If you had to assign a theme song to In & Out of Time Again, which would you assign?

OK, so I listed to my In & Out of Time Again playlist basically on repeat for two weeks straight while I was drafting and editing. It’s very hard to pick a single song since all of them really helped me get into the mindset for that story, BUT - I will go with Tripolar by MS MR.

Funny story about that one. I said to @akisazame “I need a MS MR song for this playlist” and even though she hadn’t yet read my draft OR This Is How You Lose the Time War, she recommended Tripolar and it was beyond perfect. She knocked it out of the park.

9. That’s a tough one. I have a rotating playlist for that one, depending on which character I’m focused on. For writing Margo, I’d say I’m torn between Leonard Cohen’s “The Future” and “Gloomy Sunday” (though I’d probably pick the Hungarian version for it). Not very uplifting, I know 😂 A lot of my Solas stuff is written to Adam Hurst’s Talisman album, though much of my writing is done to Adam Hurst, to be honest, not just that fic. If I had to pick a single one though? So here, ok, I’ll pick one.

18. That’s a complicated question. I usually word vomit a first draft, then tweak it and edit it. Earlier on in the writing, there was more word vomit and less tweaking, but my style has changed over the years, and the story has gotten more complex—and I suppose so has the writing process. But no matter how many drafts I churn out, it all goes to my amazing beta reader. I won the jackpot there because she’s got a professional hand, and so the final product is way more polished than what I could pull off—I’m of course fluent in English, but it’s funny how those ESL tics still crop up in the least likely places.

20. What feedback makes you the happiest to hear? 

Feedback of any kind is welcome, loved, and appreciated. If I had to pick a favorite, it’s those moments when people pick out certain lines of something I write to show a moment that really stuck out to them. That’s when I can see what my readers are noticing and cater my future writing to how they look at my story. Writing is my favorite hobby and having someone interested in what I have to say feels amazing. Knowing what and why they like it tells me how to improve and focus in the future.

Secondarily to that, I like when people tell me if there’s a thing that left them confused. I spend so much time immersed in my world that I sometimes forget the simplest detail because to me, it’s just known. If a reader says something like “what does he mean by___” then I can go back and fix what I overlooked.

29. What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most? (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, etc) 

Brainstorming, without a doubt. I never make outlines, struggle with word choice while writing, and would rather stab myself in both eyes than edit. (Major props to my beta, she’s a lifesaver and I love her to pieces). Most of my brainstorming is done by following a tangential thought down the rabbit hole (or through the eluvian) and then looking back with the idea of “oh,crap I should save that for later.” It’s organic and feels so much like improv acting class, which I also adored.

Fanfic Reader Asks: 6, 13, & 19?

Thank you for asking! (And I’m so glad you’re doing this one as well because I know you’re going to have great recommendations/answers for basically every question, haha!)

6: what's your least favourite fanfic category?

I don’t do ABO at all. I also don’t read dom!Solas. Crack fics are usually a no unless they come highly recommended from a friend.

13: do you read author's notes usually?

Always! I love to see what people have to say and I HOPE that they aren’t talking down about their own writing. Hopping on my soapbox temporarily to remind you that, however anxious you may feel about posting your writing, please don’t talk badly about it in your notes! It’s not good for writers and it’s not good for readers.

19: undercover au or college au?

Definitely undercover. I don’t do a ton of college/high school AUs but undercover ones are very fun to me. I really love detective/noir AUs too. I’ve seen a few good ideas for DA ones, and I have a few marked in my Read Later list. Need to get around to those (or maybe write one myself, someday!).
