(and @solsticelosthermind and @dancing-dawn) i'm gonna try to rec fics that i think are under-appreciated lmao i think if i WAS to list my top 5 by just being my favorite they would all be my long fics and nobody has time for that lmao sooooo five of my oneshots that rock and that everyone should read STAT
1.) scheherazade - one-shot, 8k, rated E, persona 5, goro akechi/persona 5 protagonist.
ah. my one and only persona 5 fic. its artsy and a bit pretentious with a lot of philosophy quotes. probably a bit pastiche and wordy and re-reading it now there's definitely things i'd change BUT there are a few lines i really really like that i think hold up. the small exchange that stands out: i killed you/i killed you too/i wasn't real/you were to me. something about the rhythm of it really stuck with me. idk anyway akechi shows up at his own grave 10 years after the events of persona 5 end and they angstily fuck about it.
2.) haunt me, then - one shot, 5k, rated T, bungo stray dogs, nakajima atsushi/akutagawa ryuunosuke
one of my favorites and probably my least popular? i sincerely don't know why lmao its a really good fic. its about atsushi grieving akutagawa when he believed he died after the fukuchi fight. its a character study and an exploration of grief and in my opinion super well done and also not that depressing?! me waving down the fandom with the 'why are you running' meme, you know the one. its legitimately very good.
3.) green eyed monster - one shot, 18k, rated T, my hero academia, midoriya izuku/bakugou katsuki
a my hero academia fic? in the year of our lord 2026? in THIS economy? but lmao i actually REALLY like this one - its kind of exactly what i wanted from a post-canon fic. except you can kinda tell i rushed the ending because there was definitely room to extrapolate but like. it was supposed to be a jokey one shot and its 18k words. maybe one day i'll write a sexy sex chapter 2. anyway i think its hilarious and very much enjoy re-reading it. just katsuki absolutely losing his shit as izuku dates five increasingly increasingly insane people. like i dont see why people are getting so mad that mha implied an izuocha ending. like yes? they did? they implied they might start dating. they didn't have a flash forward with fucking children. let izuku date while katsuki sits next to him dying inside as he tries to be a good friend but instead burning alive inside with jealousy. its important. its enrichment.
4.) we will wait and wait in that space - one shot, 22k, Rated M, my hero academia, midoriya izuku/bakugou katsuki
oh katsuki dying over and over again time loop. i was deeply depressed while writing this one and it shows. izuku midoriya character study, HIS grief, and the realization that katsuki dies because izuku is in his life. its a little devastating; this one is a bit of a tear-jerker. but its really beautifully done and a have a lot of affection for this fic. part 2 is a continuation that i couldn't resist writing but, in my opinion, isn't as solid as this stand-alone portion.
5.) love yourself first - one shot, 10k, Rated E, bungo stray dogs, nakajima atsushi/akutagawa ryuunosuke
hehehhe. sskk x beast sskk foursome. beast sskk are in a relationship and they're FREAKS about it. atsushi gets double penetrated. atsushi on atsushi making out. akutagawa gets cucked in his knight outfit. really what else could you want?! truly a work of genius. inspired. horny. stupid as fuck. #jorkedit
anyway. i dig these fics a lot and ones i tend to re-read. :) thank you for spreading around the positivity! always very good to remember what you love about your writing and what you've already done rather than entering the Torment Nexus of What I'm Writing Next. lol. lmao even. <3
