"Woah, how did you get here?" A teasing voice, sounding from behind you as you turn instinctively, soul jumping out of your heart before you finally notice the source of the sound. Brant, I.e. the love of your life. A stutter claws at your throat, lips trembling–you look away hastily, before inevitably turning back to admire him again. "Are you going to answer me..?"

"Uhm, yeah! Uh, I, I'm.. I don't know?.." Just as you're about to answer, it strikes that you're just as clueless as him in this whole situation. So as always, you offer a nervous grin, shrugging your shoulders.

He just laughs.

A quick note for those reading my fic or other Japanese works:

In Japanese, the choice of first- and second-person pronouns often reflects a character's personality, emotional state, or social role.

For instance:

A character who uses “watashi (私)” might be emotionally restrained or formal.

Switching to “ore (俺)” can signal a more assertive or emotionally vulnerable moment.

Similarly, using “omae (お前)” implies familiarity (or slight condescension), while “kisama (貴様)” often suggests hostility.

In English, these all flatten into just “I” and “you,” and that’s okay—but it means some nuance gets lost.

Think of pronoun choice as a mirror of how the character sees themselves—and the person they’re talking to.

I hope this helps you feel some of the tension, distance, or closeness behind their words.

For example:

Mozenrath mostly uses “watashi,” keeping himself guarded. But in a moment of stress or anger, for instance, you might hear “ore” slip out—and that says a lot. (Just to note, this is based on how I portray the characters in my own writing.)

A Drink for Two

A HimeRita Story (all warnings are in the ao3 tags)

So if you remember my old post way back when where I decided to make a modern Beauty and the Beast AU for HimeRita because I just thought it would fit, I decided to rework it as an attempt on a really good yet pretty angsty slowburn. First 5 chapters are up and updates will be every 1-2 weeks.

The story follows Rita, Toufu Eatery's Barista, and Himeno, a Second-Year Med Student who recently moved to the city so she doesn't have to commute to school. Despite forming a small crush on the very handsome yet mysterious barista, Himeno opts to befriend them after becoming a regular at Toufu. Rita, albeit hesitant on making a new friend, finds her intentions sincere and accepts.

Follow along as Himeno learns more about her new friend and those they hold dear. A story where she learns the harsh past guarded by a mask and loving friends as she secretly wishes Rita would love her back.

Do be warned as this fic will tackle some topics that may be sensitive to some readers. I usually try to keep things as PG-13 as possible, but this fic really calls for tackling modern issues when a character whose gender is heavily debated on (when it shouldn't) is one of the leads.

I included "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" as its original use: the warnings are in the tags so please take them seriously. I don't intend on making the fic too intense, but I will also put warnings in the Notes so readers can be prepared.
