Plz enjoy the below selection of snippets deleted from various small town boys fics — am posting to hopefully shake up the ole brain and get the new fic ideas flowing! ✨️✨️✨️
Sid would zig and zig over and over and over again with supernatural consistency. He was famous for it. He'd practice zigging for hours and hours until he could do it perfectly without even thinking about it. Then, every once in a while, he'd take Zhneya completely by surprise and pull off a /spectacular/ zag.
2. [Cut from an early version of premiere etoile, sid pov, set in Sid's hospital room]
The light was different when he woke up, and Geno was talking to him:
'They tell me visit, it's over. I need go home.'
Sid nodded sleepily. 'Kay,' he sighed. Geno's hand was already in his. He squeezed it gently.
Geno didn't let go. He lifted Sid's hand to his mouth and kissed his knuckles.
'I come tomorrow,' he said seriously. His eyes were still a little red.
Geno's gaze dropped to the baby in the plastic box clipped to the side of the bed between them.
He didn't seem to want to go.
'Hey. We'll see you in the morning, ok?' Which seemed neutral enough in his head, except Geno suddenly looked like he was going to cry again.
Sid made a soft noise in his throat — for once, he could relate.
He felt...different...wrung out.../new/...
Because there were three of them now.
Fyodor was theirs to /keep/.
3. [Orphan scene, no particular fic]
Sid was rinsing swimming trunks in the bathroom sink. They seemed to spend their whole lives washing swimming trunks. The bathroom always smelled vaguely of chlorine
Sid glanced at him as he came in.
Zhenya ignored him. He pressed himself up against Sid's back and covered Sid's flat belly with his open palm. /Remember this?/ He thought fiercely, tucking his nose behind Sid's ear. /Remember when we made the baby?/
Sid stopped what he was doing. After a moment, he turned his head and made a soft noise in his throat: he did remember. Now he was thinking about it too.
The morning was a little fraught.
Zhenya pissed behind a tree, lost one of his contact lenses, then struggled to find his glasses with one eye.
Sensibly, Sid kept his comments to himself.
5. [Cut from i like it when you drive, Geno's fresh out of the shower]
Zheny was just stepping into a pair of trackpants when Sid's appeared in the bedroom doorway.
'Hey,' he said brightly, 'I was just talking to, uh...'
Zhenya glanced over at him.
Sid was holding a small square basket. He had a strangely intent look on his face.
Whatever he'd come upstairs to say, Zhenya could see him parking it in real time.
Zhenya leaned his hip against the dresser and crossed his arms loosely over his bare chest. He knew Sid liked his body — he wasn't above a bit of strategic exposure.
Sid cleared his throat and braced one hand on the doorframe, dorky and hopelessly unsubtle.
'You busy right now?' He said.
Geno had all kinds of names for Feddy, most of them Russian. When he was talking to Sid, he mostly called him /my son./
It had always been obvious how much Geno loved being a dad.
Geno looked up and met Sid's gaze over Feddy's shoulder and Sid felt it like a shock through his whole body.
7. [Cut from cole harbour, ns]
Feddy was waiting at the top of the stairs, holding on to the baby gate. He was bouncing a little on his toes.
Sid reached over the gate and lifted him up. He was soft and warm in his pyjamas.
'Hey, Buddy,' Sid murmured quietly, kissing Feddy's dark, downy hair. 'Are you my baby? Are you my special little guy?'
8. [Cut from groundwork, an early joint holiday in florida]
Sid's boredom was steaming off him, almost as thick as the atmospheric humidity.
On reflection, it was maybe a little ambitious to have expected Sid to lie on a sun lounger for more than five minutes.
'You want have sex?' Zhenya offered selflessly.
Sid frowned, uncharacteristically brattily.
Zhenya stared at him incredulously for several seconds.
Just for that he was going to work Sid over so thoroughly, he wouldn't know which way was up.
[An hour or so later, Sid asleep on his belly in bed]
Zhenya was surprised Sid hadn't had his hair cut. The humidity was making it curl.
Sid's grooming habits aside, things were getting pretty serious between them.
Zhneya got the feeling his days of vacationing in miami were numbered...
9. [Skeleton on unwritten scene, no particular fic]
Zhenya only had a half second to glance behind him before Sid was pushing him against the tiled wall and kissing him.
Zhenya kissed him back, pawing Sid's waist ineffectually before realising he was pulling at wet fabric — Sid was still fully clothed.
'Are you crazy?!' Zhenya yelped, half laughing, half groaning into Sid's hungry mouth.
He could /feel/ Sid grinning, amped up and cocky.
They both knew the answer to that was /yes./
10. [Cut from the last chapter of darling if you please, set at ovi's dacha]
Zhenya woke up slowly to sunlight fluttering on the wooden wall. Everything smelled of pine.
Amazingly, Sid was still asleep. He was sleeping on a camping mat on the floor, sprawled out on his back with one arm flung over his head — he'd insisted zhenya take the small single bed for his knee.
Fedya was snuggled up against Sid's side, Kristopher the penguin tucked tightly under his arm.
Zhenya's heart thrummed at the scene — his boy and his boy's father.
He closed his eyes and dozed for a while, listening to the birds in the trees.
Some time later, the mattress dipped — Fedya was climbing up onto the bed to see him.
Zhenya smiled and shifted over a little so his son could curl up by his side.
Hope you enjoyed those lil snips! 🥰
Thanks you @justagoddamnpossum for the suggestion ☺️☺️✨️
