You’d think that since New Moon came out 20 years ago, and the movie with my beautiful Alex Meraz came out 17 years ago, I’d have at least one or two good fics of Paul Lahote or some content here and there — but nope.

When the fics in your head are so good then you have to sit down and write them and then its all ahfheubrjrbbfje
So I’ve finally escaped the labyrinth that is Ohio in the most recent chapter of my PJO Rewrite and I am now staring down the barrel of the Midwest. To try and formulate a game plan for how I’m going to send my trio to a random town in Montana I decided to look up a road-map of the first PJO book, to get an idea of the roads that were traveled in the source material.
Lo and behold…
Riordan only included 5-ish major stops on this roadtrip! Not only that, he completely skipped over the Midwest and whatever the fuck you call the area between the Great Lakes and the South. My head is simmering at the fact the first book is a solid 45% setup to a quest which is 50% of the book and the remaining 5% leftovers for finishing the damn thing.
Meanwhile in the 14 chapters I’ve completed I’ve written 60 less pages than Riordan’s original work and those pages are far less dense in text than the actual book.
Okay, having come down from my own feelings of authorial incompetence I’ve realized I need to go back and fix all my old chapters to be double spaced.
If anyone has advice for what I should write about on the road to Montana from St. Louis please let me know because I am at a loss once again.
