Ficlist Rec List Part 10

This is the last of the recommendations inspired by the tropes and tags discussed in @theficlistpodcast. (Unless I forgot any, if so, let me know.) Because of that, it has six fic recs instead of five.

I had a lot of fun doing this and would like to continue, so if you have any tag or trope suggestions for future lists, please let me know. And of course, I will add any future Ficlist episodes as well.

Firefighter AU: i think about jumping (just to see you come running) by coffeecatsme (Red, White & Royal Blue - FirstPrince - 6,130 words) A very cute 5+1 fic of Henry being awkward around firefighter Alex. With very fun easter egg like references to cannon.

Found Family: 17 Steps to Inevitability by @littlespoonevan (9-1-1 - Buddie - 12,024 words) Found family, build family, fire fam, Buckley-Diaz family, this fic has it all and it's so amazing. Eddie, Chris and Buck are just meant to be a family.

Pizza Boy AU: The Pizza Man Cometh by @snarkymonkeyprime (Supernatural - pre Destiel - 1,042 words) Very funny meet cute because of a wrong address. It feels very on brand especially for Cas.

Proposal: Before the Night Fades by @milenadaniels (9-1-1 - Buddie - 8,614 words) Very fun outsiders POV of a proposal with lots of misunderstandings. And then a second one that goes much better. The outsider characters are written very well and you learn so much about them and the entire situation through their eyes.

Road Trip Fic: [podfic] I Might Take a Plane, I Might Take a Train (But If I Have to Walk, I'm Going Just The Same) by @hullomoon (Stranger Things - Steddie - 01:54:46 hours) Steve tries to make it home for Thanksgiving and meets Eddie on the road. Chaos ensues. Hullomoon did such a great job reading this, I had so much fun listening.

Spy AU: if you're cold, he's cold by elithewho (Heated Rivalry - Hollanov - 6,369 words) The fic I originally raced got deleted, but I found another HR spy AU. Warning: it does not have a happy ending! It's beautifully written, Ilya is a KGB agent in the Cold War, and meets Shane in a dive bar. It has a lot of yearning and Ilya falling for Shane despite himself.

Ficlist Rec List Part 9

I have had these fics picked out since like, early December or something, but it was a very busy month and then I sort of forgot about this. But here we are:

Vampire AU: Vintages for Those Who Don't Drink...Wine by @rajumat (Stranger Things - Steddie - 5,467 words) It's not only a vampire AU, it's also a Supernatural style hunters AU, and it is hilarious. I'm also slightly biased, because I made a podfic of this fic.

New Year's Eve: i want your midnights by @markofalover (9-1-1 - Buddie - 2,463 words) It's so cute and fluffy. Honestly, a dream scenario to ring in the New Year.

Ghost (Sexy): Dude, That's My Ghost! by @fuctacles (Stranger Things - Steddie - 9,064 words) This was the first fic I thought of when I saw this tag. It involves some creative ghost sex and sexy possession. Technically Eddie isn't a ghost in this, he's a soul without a body, but I'm counting it.

Fix-It Fic: in the arms of the ocean by @littlespoonevan (9-1-1 - Buddie - 6,857 words) Truly what should have happened after the tsunami. It's the definition of a fix-it fic for me.

Secret Santa: Secret Santa Shenanigans by @songonthewind (Stranger Things - Steddie - 9,795 words) The rest of the Party make sure Steve and Eddie are each other's secret Santas and they give each other thoughtful gifts that lead to them getting together. There is also a very cute interaction between Wayne and Eddie, that I absolutely love.

Ficlist Rec List Part 6

This rec list is inspired by the tropes and tags discussed in @theficlistpodcast

Soulmate AU: Too Real for One Little Heart by @pearlcaddy (Julie and the Phantoms - Juke - 46,242 words) I really love Luke's thoughts about musical soulmates in this fic and how the soulmate sparks are written. This fic is also part of a series, which I also highly recommend.

Tattoo Shop AU: gardens from scorched holy grounds by @hearjessroar (Sky High - ForrestFire - 3,689 words) The is very little tattoo shop in this, but it also has a little flower shop AU in it and subverts the expectations which character has which job. It also feels really realistic to where the characters might end up emotionally a few years down the road.

Snowed In: We're Waking Up Slow by @myrmidryad (Roswell, New Mexico - Malex - 12,045 words) These two so desperately needed to be stuck somewhere together without a way to run away and this is exactly that and done very well. One of the tags is "basically 12k of these two talking shit out" and that sums it up very well.

Christmas: No Matter How Far Away You Roam by @theladyragnell (Merlin - Merthur - 11,537 words) Such a great fic, fake dating, meeting the families, Christmas shenanigans, humour, only one bed, it has a lot and it does it all well.

Omegaverse: parts per million by @legete (Captain America - Stucky - 5,373 words) This does quite a bit of world building in a very short time and incorporates the canon from the first Captain America movie really well. I really like how their biology keeps missing each other in this fic and that keeps them apart for a long time.

Ficlist Rec List Part 7

I've had these fics picked for ages, but I haven't found time or motivation to post this until now.

Arranged Marriage: Royal Pain by @penny00dreadful (Stranger Things - Steddie, Buckingham - 59,908 words) Really cool fictional historical royal AU. The interpretation of canon characters works really well.

Heist AU: to plan an art heist by MaudeAlise (Six of Crows - Wesper - 5,194 words) Jesper is his typical distracted self and Kas goes with the flow the scheme. And of course Wesper flirting and crow shenanigans.

Florist AU: The Nature of My Game by @ponyregrets (The 100 - Bellarke - 4,504 words) Very cute and funny. Bellamy flirts by hiding his name and makes Clarke guess.

Pirates AU: smoke on the water by @nyscea (Stranger Things - Steddie - 76,777 words) The merging of canon and the AU is really cool in this fic. And the characters work so well as a pirate crew. Also Steve's self worth issues in this were right up my alley.

Meeting the Family: i got all my sisters with me by @usercowboy (9-1-1 - Buddie - 6,766 words) Really cute Diaz sibling dynamic and Buck getting to meet Eddie's sisters.

Ficlist Rec List Part 2

This rec list is inspired by the tropes and tags discussed in @theficlistpodcast

Angst: dancing barefoot by fastcardotmp3 and @n0connections (Stranger Things - Chronance - 2,194 words - 15:41) I highly recommend listening to the podfic version. It's a very well executed and creepy almost horror time loop story.

Roommates AU: You've Got Your Reasons by FervidAsAFlame and @candicewright (Merlin - Merthur - 11,675 words) One of my absolute favourite Merlin fics, I've read it many times and it's a perfect roommates AU.

Hurt/Comfort: Words Fall Short (Tongue Tied and Lonely) by @thelikesofus (9-1-1 - Buddie - 13,353 words) Misunderstandings, Buck jumping to the wrong conclusions, idiots in love, it's an amazing mix. And the ending is great, fluffy and happy.

Crack: Tea-rrific Advice by Amanita_Fierce, HowOldAreWe, @hullomoon, @n0connections, patientanxiety, @schittposting, @thesleepyskipper, @sunlightsymphony and dairaliz (Stranger Things - 1,084 words - 9:49) Vecna as an agony aunt, it is hilarious. And the podfic is great.

Texting AU: From This Gutter We’re Still Staring at the Stars by @pearlcaddy (Julie and the Phantoms - Juke - 3,009) Great outsiders POV of the amazing fic series 100 Bad Days. It probably doesn't make a lot of sense without knowing the series, but it would probably still be fun and it really is a great example of the tag.

Ficlist Rec List Part 1

I want to do a fic rec list based on @theficlistpodcast, if you're not familiar, they pick one or two fan fiction tags/tropes per episode and talk about fics that have those. Every time I listen to an episode, I think about what fic I would recommend for that tag, so now I'm making a list. I'm planing multiple parts with five recs each.

Blind Date: things we shouldn't do by @ingu (9-1-1 - Buddie - 21,740 words) Buck and Eddie accidentally get set up on a blind date with each other, which leads to them fake dating to get couples discounts.

Cinderella AU: Soon As I Held You by @zelamorre (Captain America - Stucky - 15,211 words) Bucky is used by his stepfather Alexander Pierce and his sons not only as a servant, but also as a weapon. King Steve is forced to hold a ball to find a spouse by his advisor Nick Fury. A really great mashup of Captain America and Cinderella.

Fake Dating: Pretty Little Picture by @spaceskam (Roswell, New Mexico - Malex - 15,380 words) Great fake dating fic, it has a company retreat, it has pining, it has heated elevator scenes and it has emo Alex.

Coffee Shop AU: I Can Get By The Days Just Fine (But The Nights) by @alexthedrummerboy (Julie and the Phantoms - Willex - 13,192) Willie thinks Alex is in a relationship with Luke, but then sees Luke with Julie and thinks he's cheating on Alex. Peak pining and misunderstandings.

Fluff: such a pretty house and such a pretty garden by @fivecenturiesverse (Stranger Things - Steddie - 1,878) Eddie is trapped in suburbia with Steve bing way too domestic and hot. It's hilarious, maybe not the most classic fluff, but very feel good. I also recorded a podfic of it (small self rec, sorry)

Ficlist Rec List Part 5

I'm having so much fun searching for fics for this list. I've rediscovered some gems in my bookmarks and read amazing fics for tropes that I rarely ever read.

Cross-Over: family is what you make it by oceanwaves23 (9-1-1/Stranger Things - Ronance, Steddie, Buddie - 4,785 words) A really great crossover that plays with the idea that Robin and Buck share the same last name and that Buck's parents tend to lie about the existence of family members.

First Date: let’s go, don’t wait by gennified (Julie and the Phantoms - Willex - 3,421 words) Really cute, with anxious Alex, his friends being supportive (and a little teasing) and Willie planing the perfect ghost date for him.

Librarian AU: Never go to bed alone when you have a library card by @relenafanel (Captain America - Stucky - 4,943 words) Bucky and his murder scowl working in customer service, a perfect mix. And Steve is into it of course.

Hanahaki Disease: oh, i know that love is all about the wind, how it can hold me up and kill me in the end (still i loved it) by reachedthebitterend (Roswell, New Mexico - Malex - 12,983 words) A cool way to incorporate Hanahaki into the canon of the show. And of course they are incapable of just talking to each other and being very self sacrificing. It's great.

Teacher AU: The Lonely King by @corilannam (Merlin - Merthur - 58,002 words) Honestly, the teacher part is pretty minor, it's not even tagged. But it is a great fic with themes of coming out and being in the public eye. I highly recommend.

Ficlist Rec List Part 8

This rec list is inspired by the tropes and tags discussed in @theficlistpodcast

Thanksgiving: Sweet Potatoes & Stitches by @whumphoarder (MCU - Peter Parker&Tony Strak - 2,986 words) Very cute dynamic between Peter and Tony and then a little Avengers found family at the end.

Coming Out: [Podfic] i follow where my mind goes by @unexpected-readings-of-poetry (Stranger Things - Steddie - 1:33 hours) The older teens are all queer and hanging out talking, sharing their experiences, coming out to each other and supporting each other. It's also read really well and is a great listen.

Time Loop: born to go through trouble by @shakespearestolemyurl and BubblesKat (Epic: The Musical - 18,772 words - 2:26 hours) Such an amazing fic and podfic, it is written and recorded so well and really immersive.

Long Fic: Assignment (2023) by SezCpl (Life with Derek - Dasey - 198,784 words) I've re-read this fic many times, it's such an amazing story. I think it can also be read without any knowledge of the fandom.

Pride: Finally Free by @miyamorana (Julie and the Phantoms - Juke, Willex - 1,023 words) Alex gets to experience Pride both in the 90s and in the 2020s. There's quite a few changes and he get's to celebrate with his friends. It's feel good and fluffy.
