one of my new year's resolutions was to cut back on the frivilous spending so i know a thing or two about what it's like to be a shopaholic who's trying to maintain control. luckily i have some tips that'll save u coin and peace...💬🎀
UTLIZE FREEBIES AND REWARDS ;
make memberships at all the shopping places u like and keep an eye on ur inbox for coupons, discounts and sales. it's always free to sign up and you open up so many opportunities to get freebies and some rly awesome rewards.
MONTHLY WISHLIST PRINCIPLE ;
i make a wishlist for each month and throughout the entire month i discipline myself to not buy anything unless it's on my wishlist. that way im buying things that i know i actually want and not spending carelessly. it also makes me love the things i buy myself that much more and reduces overconsumption which is a win win.
USE EVERYTHING BEFORE BUYING SOMETHING NEW ;
listen if u have three vanilla scented body washes at home, you do NOT need to pick up another vanilla scented body wash while you're at the store okay? i like to have multiples of my favorite restocks but only two MAXIMUM. because first off i feel like its inconsiderate to others who also love that product.
and second of all because then your spending perfectly good money that could've been used on clothes or something from ur monthly wishlist on something that u quite literally already have/don't need.
TIME YOUR SHOPPING RUNS ;
this adds such a fun element to shopping because typically when im shopping and i linger a lot, i notice that i end up spending SO much more than i need to. but like if i go in there with 20 minute or 30 minute timer on, not only does it feel like a game but im in an out and i don't even have the TIME to pick up something i don't need.
with all this being said it isn't to restrict, but to EMPOWER you and to give you control over ur shopping and i promise it feels so much better to have stuff that u actually need, rather than a bunch of knick-knacks that u wanted in the moment but now just clutter ur space and drain ur doll dollars...💬🎀

i messed up my autopay on a new credit card and had to do this whole song and dance, so. from a former credit card cs rep to you:
TIPS FOR GETTING BANK FEES REMOVED:
schedule the payment, THEN call your cc company. (whether you forgot or just needed a few more days to get the payment together, the process will go smoother if you have at least the minimum scheduled.)
let them know you've scheduled your payment, and ask if they could possibly waive the late fee.
the first rep you talk to is likely going to say no. kindly ask to speak to their manager. (they might push back with a "jsyk, the manager can't do anything either/it's company policy, no one here can waive it!" that's ok. you're grateful for their help, but you still want to speak to a manager, just to check!
9/10 times the manager will waive it for you.
if you usually pay in full and any interest has accrued, you can also ask for this to be waived. sometimes it helps to have a good payment history, but even if you've been late or done this before, don't be afraid to try! where I worked, payment history didn't matter, we just had a set number of fees we could waive upon request a year (the number was 5).
tldr; frontline reps are literally trained to lie and discourage people from asking for fees to be waived - even though the managers can waive them! Easily!
(and ofc kindness goes a long way, I'd move mountains to try and find a loophole for people that were patient and. y'know. showed me basic human decency)

Right now, my parents have control over my bank account. Like, I do, too, but they can pretty much do what they want with it (and depending on what they're doing, I don't have to be with them at the bank for them to do it).
I currently live with my parents, but I plan to move out during the summer of 2026, and I'm curious if there's anything less-than-obvious that I should know about securing exclusive control of my account. I'm fairly certain that it's a savings account (not a checking account). I'm cool with going up to the bank desk, asking them to give me full control over my account, and walking through the process in person, but is there anything that I should know that they won't necessarily tell me?
Also, I'd rather my parents not be present while this happens, but I can manage if they have to be. Is it typically allowable that this process occur without parents present (if their child is an adult)?
