You matter
Look, if you suffer from depression and like LOTR, this might help you with state of mind.
Denethor gave up hope and missed out on life, a safe new Middle Earth, his son growing a family. He missed it all. He was old and at an inevitable end, he thought he had lost everything. But if he had just held on a few more days, he would have known real joy.
He could clearly see all the possible outcomes, and wanted to avoid them. His choice of the pyre was very logical. But in this case, logic and seeing were against him. So if you feel like you can see all the possible outcomes and logically want to avoid them, then hope in the unknown. The things you can’t see. The impossible good that hasn’t occurred to you.
Maybe holding on will bring some of the darkest days you’ve ever seen, but it isn’t the end. There may be good you can’t anticipate. So use your fear of missing out to give you one more reason to hold on. Use your faith in unknown things and the changes of life to spur you on a few more days. Your joy and victory may very well be carried by someone you don’t know yet. Someone you’ve never met, far away, who isn’t giving up.

April is National Hope Month
