Me: *helping an older woman place an order at work*
Lady: *looks at my hands* you know, you have some ugly fingernails doncha?
Me: thanks, it’s the anxiety *proceeds to show her a particularly bloody nail*
I find my three fingers in between the pinkie and the thumb are always the ones that hurt most. The index, the ring and the middle finger are the ones I tend to hurt most. I bite them often. I bite my other ones often too, but those three (or six, if we count both hands) are the ones that seem to hurt the most. I don't know why, but it's just a minor observation i've made. My three middle fingers (or whatever you call them) always seem to get hurt the most. I don't really really have much else to add here, though. So i'll just post this now, as is.
Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of May 10, 2020

• Writing is hard. So is breaking the habit of biting your nails. The trick is to do one more than the other.
• This pandemic needs to be put behind us NOW! I don’t care about the economy. My kid fucking hates the elastic strap of his face masks against his hair. I can deal with quarantining, but this might break us all.
• I don’t have many regrets, but one of the greatest is staying together with spending too much time with the wrong women and not enough with the right. I’m beginning to feel the same way about my Facebook friends.
• The loudest, most proud among us is also the most lacking in true confidence.
• A lot of people have gotten new puppies during this pandemic. Look, if you need an excuse to go outside, just start smoking. It’s cheaper and cleaner. And I’ve never had to scrub cigarette poo-poo out of a carpet.
• Since the beginning of this quarantine I’ve become extremely interested in absolutely nothing.
@sillyandquiteawkward it was I who sent the anon ask dfgdfghdfgh. I too have a problem where, when there’s no nail, I start biting into the skin. I have been doing this for a long time, I even had fake gel nails applied on a couple of occasions, but they only did so much. I even at one point tried to grow my nails, and I think it lasted less than a month, but depression got to me, and I eventually relapsed. Cue a month ago when a new salon opened up nearby and my mom got her nails done. She said she would arrange me an appointment to get my nails done too and have a strengthener applied.
Next thing I know, I stopped biting. The urge to pick at my nails and bite them was still there, (I do pick a little, but since I have a manicure I pick it at the sides and take off the glue I suppose???) but I kind of stopped and anticipated the manicure. I even promised to the salon owner that I would stop biting my nails and grow them. Not gonna lie, it feels SUPER WEIRD to have nails, because then you remember that you’re prone to scratching yourself and you’re just OOF but then you remember that your nail is super flexible because of how weak it is.
The first image was taken in October 15th. The second was taken about.. 10-ish days later? And the last picture is the one I took a few minutes ago. I’ll have to see when I’ll get a next appointment for a new manicure cuz you can see that the nail bed is pressing the manicure away as if to show that the nail is growing.
So my new years resolution is to take a step at a time and actually work on growing my nails!! if you wanna use this as a motivational post, feel free! ;; I do hope this inspires people?? idk. ;;
me: feels like my stress and anxiety levels are down today
fingernails chewed beyond down for the second time this week: our lie detectors determined that was a lie
me, obsessively biting my fingernails at every given moment: i quess u could say i have a high-protein diet
Oh yess, scenario where Oikawas s/o bites their lips and fingernails a lot so the skin around their nails is red and sometimes bleeding and their lips always have bite marks in them and scabs on them so they're self conscious of their hands and kissing? thank you!!
Afternoon Cutie Patootie, I know you must be trying and I applaud you. Your efforts show that you are not giving up and you will conquer this. There are dozens of methods that you could try if you want. Make quoting a long-term goal of yours. When you feel that feeling creeping up on you remember your goal and use that as motivation to stop in that moment. And the good thing about this is that habits are meant to be broken. You can do this. - Jelly
The sun shone on Oikawa Tooru and his s/o. The mid day light filtered through the leaves of the trees over head and created an ethereal glow around the two. Oikawa traced patterns on his s/o’s back as they laid on their stomach and dozed.
Oikawa leaned down to give his s/o a kiss but they turned away and buried their face in their crossed ams. The tall volley ball player startled at that and whined.
“Beautiful! I why do you turn away? I just wan tot give you a kiss.” Oikawa questioned.
They mumbled something unintelligible into the ground below them and refused to look up at Oikawa incessant nudging.
“Is this about your lips and hands?” he said quietly into their shoulder. Oikawa laid an arm around their waist and moved closer. He nuzzled his face into their shoulder. They nodded and Oikawa made a pain filled whine.
“Can you look at me?” he inquired. “I promise I won’t kiss you, I just want to look you in the eyes.
They hesitantly lifted their head and looked to Oikawa with a little prompting. Oikawa smiled at them and stroked their face.
“You are beautiful. You are the most beautiful person, place, or thing that I have every laid eyes on. I want you to believe me because I would never lie to you.” Oikawa spoke with such conviction that it was impossible to not believe every word he said.
“You’re beautiful, and you’re smart, and you’re compassionate. I will never give you up. Not even for the entire universe.”
