As much as I desperately want someone in the firefam to be absolutely gobsmacked about Buck and Eddie getting together, there are basically no options left. Maddie had her whole “if there’s something you need to tell Eddie, you will” during Buck’s coming out arc, so she’s out. Bobby had all those “Bobby knows” side eye moments and live slug reactions, especially in the first few seasons with both Buck and Eddie. Chimney has clearly clocked Buck being weird about Eddie moving (for a best friend, at least) as per 8x10, and there was also that “basketball beard” line in s7. Hen and Karen were canonically waiting for Buck to figure out his bisexuality. So the only people canonically left behind on the train would be possibly Athena, even though she’s a cop and trained to be observant, and Ravi, who many Buddie fans (including myself) headcanon as believing Buck and Eddie to be divorced. Christopher is an option, but I would much rather him being tired of waiting for it to happen than be shocked, especially after the upheaval in the Diazes’ relationship most recently.

I’m starting to think that the shock can only come from more side characters than anything else, and it is maddening, because it would be so funny if somebody in the family has witnessed the Buck and Eddie Show for the past 7 years, and still never clocked them! Help me out here for real, canon

they're doing a mall escalator rescue on chicago fire and all i can think about is that one call they had on 911 where a guy i think proposed to his girlfriend at the top of an escalator, but somehow he managed to like... slip... or get caught in the gearshift underneath??? and his body slid under like... up to his midwaist???? do ya'll know what i'm talking about? please tell me someone in the 911 fandom knows what call i'm talking about here, because it's one of the only calls that's branded into my memory. i don't think this victim survived though, i think he died while in the process of trying to save him and get him out
