I wish I were Heather
I’ve had this song stuck in my head for awhile now. Such a pretty song, good vocals and the lyrics are really relatable.
The song is about liking someone who doesn’t see you in that way, but they see someone else. She catches his eye while the other person sits there.
In my own life I have felt this one too many times. Liking someone but another caught their eye.
It sucks!
And you try to hate this girl but you can’t because she is the nicest person. In my case, I actually became friends with the girl and forgot all about the dude.
The thing I want to emphasize is that in the song the singer wants to be “Heather” just to have the person.
We start trying to be like them forgetting who we are and what makes us amazing and wonderful. If we were supposed to be Heather, we would’ve been created like Heather.
But I am not Heather, I am me. And I want to keep reminding myself of that every time I listen to that song.
I will be good enough for my person someday.
I wouldn’t want to wish I were someone else just to keep their attention. Then they weren’t mine to begin with.
