By the way female heiress were seem only as a way to give second sons power or to produce male heirs or to bind two lines or for a usurper to consolidate his claim (also the evil villain want to marry the king's beautiful daughter for that reason too), ir just to steal their possession, heritance and mostly likely inventions and works, a vessel for powerful children to continue the bloodline, a trophy wife for evil men to show off and keep prisoner, i always like to see how its portrayed it a story

For all the male domination of the line of the Rulers of Númenor and Gondor, let’s not forget that Elendil, and thus Aragorn, are actually directly descended from the female line of the House of Elros, via Elros’ great-great-granddaughter Silmariën.

AND let’s not forget that Aragorn’s only connection to Anárion’s line (the actual line of Gondorian Kings) is through his female ancestor Fíriel - who actually is the one who joined the two lines by marrying Isildur’s descendant Arvedui.

Aragorn would never have had any claim to the throne, let alone existed, if it weren’t for those two very important women. The Kings did NOT do it all by themselves.

I just love that Tolkien wrote it like that, instead of having Aragorn be descended entirely from royal men. There’s a lot of “oh his father was this important guy” and “he was the son of this cool dude” but if you look closely, in the end it comes down to two essential foremothers.

(Not to mention the fact that Dior is always referred to as “the son of Lúthien.”)

Miriel:

Died of weariness and later came back to life. After her reembodiment she is called Firiel, she that died.

Is a weaver.

Made tapestries so beautiful they are described as imperishable.

Had one son, Feanor.

Luthien:

Died of grief and later came back to life. After her return to life she is called Firiel, which at this time has also come to mean mortal maiden.

Is a weaver.

Sang a song to Mandos so beautiful it was described as imperishable.

Had one son, Dior.

Obscure Tolkien Blorbo: Round 1

Andróg vs Fíriel of Gondor

Andróg:

A member of Túrin’s band of outlaws.

He's terrible! He's a murderer, he hates elves, he tortured Beleg and killed a dwarf. He chased a woman through the woods. BUT he's so ride or die for Turin that he thought Turin and Beleg were having a "tryst". In the end, despite everything, he has a change of heart and saves Beleg so that Beleg can save Turin, so really we have Androg to thank for Turin getting to Nargothrond. This might not be in his favour depending on your view of Turin I suppose.

Fíriel of Gondor:

The daughter of Ondoher, King of Gondor. She married Arvedui Last-king of Arthedain.

JUSTICE FOR THE RIGHTFUL QUEEN OF GONDOR. After her brothers died the crown was HERS by right. Fun fact: her marriage to Arvedui, the heir of the North-kingdom, united the sundered lines of Isildur and Anárion, giving Isildur’s heirs a much more solid claim to the throne of Gondor.
