Sun and Moon being left off when not in use was explained early on in More Lore. Eclipse watching through the cameras was explained during Cookies. Sunflower (Flower) and Moonjelly (Jelly) are first seen in Replaced. (Replaced is also when the giant hole in the wall happened, in the second panel). This is a continuation on the "Christmas arc", the beginning of which starts here, when Eclipse first brings in the mysterious bags.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!! :D I hope you all have a great time, and if you’re stuck hanging around ignorant family (me) make sure you do something to treat yourself!
For me I’m going to binge watch all the Christmas movies I never watched yet (and there’s a lot) while working on my bigger projects :p
You remember hiding desperately, completely terrified to death, in the basement of the Gravity Falls Library, no where near prepared to go from putting books on the shelf, to holding your breath, praying to.... Well, anything that would destroy that triangle demon a man outside the library called Bill. You peeked from the basement window when you heard the man with a deep, dignified voice, and saw him face to face with the pyramid creature, with your brain fully unable to process what the man and demon, and some kid in a hat were even talking about. You'd witness him fighting with the monster, and watched as the thing turned him into gold, carrying him off and feeling your sanity just disappear.
You had stayed hidden for so long, you couldn't even keep track of anything....But you still wondered if the man with fighting with that thing was coming back. You hoped he had at least survived, but being trapped in that dark hole made your stomach feel like that wouldn't be the case, and you prayed that something would give.
The archived part of the old library finally served some purpose: A survival bunker. The only light you had was the glow from your tiny Timex watch once it went dark, and it kept you at least aware of time....For a time.
The archived area of the library was ancient, and was dirt floor, which you sifted nervously through your fingers as you heard screaming, crying, and explosions both above your head, and further away randomly. And the hours ticked, and it took you awhile to realize the window you peeked from was gone, and light was gone, save the watch.
The watch eventually was pointless, and time was nothing. Sitting in periods of total darkness, and hearing nothing but pain and suffering brought you to constant sobbing. Sitting in your own filth and fear felt dehumanizing, and yet, you hoped that man would return....Not gold, but flesh and bone, speaking to you, pulling you out of this living tomb, giving you some stability...Even if he was a stranger, because he was brave and not willing to lose Gravity Falls to a monster. You couldn't help but feel like the victims in Poe's novels that you had carefully read and returned to the shelves at your job.
Maybe he would come, as this wasn't a book. It was reality, and more times than not, heroes, or at least good guys made it out on top. Usually.
It had been days when finally, that deep voice called out, and was searching for anyone that survived or was hiding. Him. Ford, as called himself, yelled out to you, as you crept out of the archives and cried out hoarsely, and he met you at the bottom of the steps. He assisted you climbing out, and you gasped at the rubble of what was left of the library.
Gravity Falls was decimated. Buildings you remembered were mere ghosts of themselves, and even in the piercing blue sky, the debris and destruction looked like snow in an eerie way, and it made you bawl into Ford's sweater, as he held you gently, giving you solace in the wasteland, feeling like the only certain thing in any of this.
******
Snow fell slow and steady outside of The Mystery Shack as Christmas morning was upon you and your partner, Dr. Stanford "Ford" Pines. The weather was beginning to get nasty, and it made you nervous thinking about having to drive back home after the festivities ended later that day, and when it got dark, it would get hairy. And that snow reminded you of August, causing you to fidget.
"My dear, what seems to be troubling you?" Ford asked, his brain already trying to guess the answer, but coming up clueless. His head was tilted, and he had placed his hand over yours on your lap. "I can see that look on your face you're thinking about something bad."
Turning back to him, his curious face melted you immediately, and almost made you forget the snow that was piling up outside. "I was just a little worried about the weather," you had responded. Which was partially true. But your nerves were getting to you about another thing:
This was your first Christmas together, and on top of that, it was after the most insane event in the history of Gravity Falls to ever happen. Weirdmaggedeon. Outside of the town, this catastrophic near Armageddon level event didn't even exist, but within the town limits, it was what brought everyone to their knees...Or turned them to stone, as Ford had told you.
"Dear, are you alright?" Ford pondered to you again, his thick, grey eyebrows furrowed even more as you snapped back to the present. "You can tell me anything, you know that, right?"
"Yes, I know...I just am still reeling. Reeling from August, and just...Still processing meeting you. You literally pulled me out of a dark place, and were there for me ever since."
Your hand met his on your lap, and you intertwined fingers, the six digits on his to your five. It was more of him to love. And you couldn't fathom him leaving you. It was just traveling with his twin brother, but ever since his great nephew and niece left for the end of summer, you and him were inseparable, minus when he was with his old college friend or his twin brother Stan of course.
Ford looked at you warmly, and squeezed your hand out of reassurance. "And at the same time, you have kept me anchored through all that at the same time as well, you know that, correct? I...I remember just returning back after Bill had ruined the town, and wanting to weep when the library was practically rubble." He chuckled a little saying that. "That seems a bit silly in retrospect, doesn't it? Weeping over books, and I guess my safe haven when I first got here."
"Ford, it isn't silly, not to me," you said, leaning against him, feeling his warm chest through his sweater, and smelling his natural scent. It was comfort, today, and as it was when he found you. "I know it had been days in that bunker, but when I was in there, it felt like a lifetime. And all the sounds, the earthquakes...Everything was so amplified, and made it worse, not knowing if that was how I was going to..."
A finger gently pressed to your lips, and Ford cut your thought off. "You didn't. And, because my memory is still very sharp, I remembered that very same bunker, and was both terrified and relieved to find a survivor. You. Call it intuition, luck, or fate, but I was drawn to the place that made me feel safe all my life, and found someone that makes me feel like that wherever I am."
"Fffo-" you tried to say his name, but could barely speak trying not to cry. He hugged you tightly against him, and you buried your face in his chest for awhile, listening to his heart beat steady under the sweater and warm skin, crying silently.
He rubbed your back for awhile, and let you get the emotions out of your system, and kissed your head until you felt a bit better.
"Dear, you know we still have to open presents, if you were up for that?" He finally broke the silence gently.
Sniffling and wiping your sore eyes, you looked up at him, and saw how bright they were, looking at you, admiring you, even as you cried. That face was a gift enough, but you got him something, and did want him to actually open it. The box was by your feet you brought, and hoped it was enough.
"There isn't a single thing I need, my love," he said, as you handing him his gift, your hands shaking with the box going to him. "We've only known each other for a few months, and you have helped me heal myself, and got me to adjust to a stable life in this dimension...And never walked away from me when I didn't know if I could be here after what happened to Stanley."
"Dear, please. I've cried enough tonight. Would you open your gift?" You said, cutting him off before he continued. "This is important to me."
He shook his head, and his hands carefully unwrapped the box, drinking in how careful you wrapped it, and then opened the top. "Excelsior!" he yelled happily. "My gods! A new journal, and a camera!"
His smiled went ear to ear, as you explained a little bit about his presents. "I had this journal made just for you...It's a bit thicker, because it has a space for your pens, notes, pins, really anything that you may need on the boat! And this camera! I asked at the store...It's weather proof, break proof, anything proof with a lifetime warranty!"
"This is absolutely perfect my dear," he said sweetly. "I-I wasn't sure if you could handle me leaving with Stanley for a time to go searching for cryptids, but these gifts feel like a blessing to do so. I thank you deeply, and want you to open your gift now."
He handed you a box, and you carefully unwrapped it, and pull the contents from it, feeling a little confused.
"Oh," you responded. It looked just like a basic cell phone, but with a larger screen.
Ford continued. "Yes, so...My brilliant friend and college roommate, Fiddleford, helped me adapt to making this device more catered to you. He was abled to break into NORAD security, and allow this to give location and thorough coordinates to any place Stan and I might be while traveling through the waters of the United States and Canada. We are still working on the finer details involved with going further with it internationally, but it is capable of taking video calls anytime, anywhere around the larger perimeters of at least a couple thousand miles. But," he pulled a matching phone out of his pocket. "You can reach me whenever you are feeling sad, lonely, worried...Anything."
A swelling filled your chest, a little pang of melancholy stung you, but at the same time, your heart felt full. Ford wouldn't be here physically, but he was doing what he could to make sure he was reassuring you he would be there when you needed him emotionally. And that meant the world.
"Ford, I love this so much...I-Thank you," and you pulled him, hugging him tightly and giggling. "This was really sweet...Even if you are highjacking the Santa tracker!"
"Pssss....We aren't using it to wage war or go after another country. It's fine...And this is for you as well."
And Ford handed you a key.
"It's...It's the key to the Mystery Shack," his eyes slid away from you, and his face went as red as his sweater. "I would love to see you when we make it back from our travels, and don't want you to feel like you always need to leave. I mean, you can spend the night...Y'know, because I really enjoy seeing you..."
"Ford, thank you. And....I love you."
His eyes returned back to you, and his whole face went into shock, and he beamed at you. "You do?"
"Jeez, Stanford...You are the smartest guy I know, and yet so oblivious!" You laughed playfully, putting his face in your hands, and smiling brightly back at him. "I loved you the moment I met you....But you can say it back when your ready. If you feel the same."
And his hands came to your cheeks, and his eyes met yours. "Of course I love you. I...I love you a lot." And he pulled you in gently to press his head into your forehead, and gently kissed you. "The weather is beginning to look pretty questionable...Could I persuade you to stay the night? We could watch movies, or talk, or just snuggle."
"Yeah, I'd love that. Merry Christmas, Ford."
"Merry Christmas, my darling."

I entered the kitchen quietly and watched Dean work - I'd officially been in the bunker for one month and a couple days. Dean was making pancakes and I couldn't help but watch the way his shoulders moved under his tee-shirt.
'I'm one lucky bitch!' I thought as I realized how many fan-girls in my old world constantly had wet dreams about this very moment.
"You gonna stand there staring or you gonna help me cook?" Dean asked without even looking in my direction.
"I was completely silent," I argued.
He glanced over his shoulder, "I could feel you staring."
"I think it's pretty egotistical of you to assume I was staring."
"I think it's silly of you to forget how good I am at noticing small details and the way you ogle me isn't small, Sweetheart," he turned back long enough to wink at me and then went back to cooking.
"Well, maybe I can't physically help it - we do have a profound bond."
Dean chuckled and shook his head, "You remember THAT line?"
"I didn't fully quote it," I defended.
Again Dean shook his head, "What am I gonna do with you?" he laughed.
I brought two plates over, "Well feeding me and calling me pretty would be a good start."
He turned to take a plate from my hands but seemed a tad shocked about how close I was standing.
"Sorry," I took half a step back once I realized how I was invading his space.
Dean cleared his throat and dished up our plates.
"I brewed coffee, or there's all of Sam's teas," he gestured vaguely at the spot Sam kept a bunch of tea and supplements.
"Dean-"
He held up a hand, "I know, you've been here a while. I'm trying okay."
"I know," I smiled softly at him, "I saw a think online about a sculpture park that has this fancy light display," I pulled out my phone, "See?"
Dean glanced at it, "Isn't that for little kids?"
"Well, yeah the sitting on Santa's lap area for sure is but there's this pretty heart tunnel and you can get hot cocoa," I shrugged, "It looked fun. Don't you like fun Dean?"
"I do, but I'm not sure our ideas of fun are the same."
"Well what would you like to do for fun?"
Dean's ears turned pink, "Sweetheart-"
I cut him off, "Don't Sweetheart me - you only use that term when you're mocking someone."
"I do not," he defended.
"Prove me wrong."
He sat there with his mouth opening and closing but eventually changed the subject back to my original question, "I'm a little more into adult fun."
"Like watching Scooby-Doo?"
"Hey - that's classic TV," he defended.
"I know, and I agree, but will you just humor me?"
"I um, I don't know," he paused, "It's only at night which is pretty dangerous."
"And that's why I'll have a big strong hunter to protect me," I did my best to bat my lashes at him - although I probably resembled a baby calf asking for more milk rather than a somewhat sultry pouty woman.
Dean sighed, "Fine, but you're bringing protection and we're leaving at the first sign of danger."
"I'll have my blade, and the holy water you gave me, and I'll wear my sliver ring, And I have an anti-possession tattoo," I blurted.
That piqued his interest, "I didn't know," his one eyebrow was raised practically to his hairline. "Are you sure it's accurate?"
"Wanna inspect it for me to be sure?" I smirked.
Dean full on blushed as he asked, "W-where is it?" his voice going up a couple notches.
I gripped the hem of my tee for a moment like I was about to pull it off my head but then I simply said, "If you're a good boy I'll show you one of these days," and then I sauntered out of the room.
It did take me two more days to get Dean to actually go to the light walk at that sculpture park but we went and when we pulled into the parking lot I was so excited.
"Look," I practically squealed, "It's so pretty!"
Dean smiled and reached out, taking my hand in his.
I was so ecstatic at the contact I thought I might faint.
"You holding my hand because you like it or because you're afraid I'll get lost in the crowd?"
"What if I said both?" he answered with a question.
It was my turn to smile and shake my head.
"Do you want some hot chocolate?" I asked when the beverage stand came into view.
"Eh, you can have some if you want."
"Oh come on Dean," I pouted, "Pull that inner child out a little and let him have some fun."
He scowled at me as we stepped into line, but he never let go of my hand. When it was our turn to order I asked for a peppermint hot chocolate.
"How about you darlin'?" the cashier asked Dean.
"Oh, um I'm good."
"Too manly for cocoa huh?" she grinned, "We have coffee if you'd prefer?"
"Oh, um yeah I'll have a black coffee then," he smiled at her.
I was a little shocked when Dean insisted on paying for our drinks, I had been planning to pay myself but that almost made it feel like he was taking me on a date. I'm not sure why the thought made me smile as much as it did but there I was grinning like an idiot as they handed us our drinks.
The tunnel of love as it was called was near the end of the light trail and half-way through it I couldn't help but think how natural it felt for me to walk around holding Dean's hand. I also had to wonder if it felt as normal to him as it was to me.
A group of rowdy teens came barreling through the tunnel as we got to the end and Dean yanked me toward him to keep me from getting run over. There we were standing in this neon pink heart, bodies pressed against each other and I couldn't help but wonder if his heart was hammering as hard as mine was.
"You ok?" he asked, his eyes searching my face.
Even in the pink glow he had the most beautiful green eyes I'd ever seen, "Yeah," I rasped because the sight and touch of him took my breath away. "I'm getting chilled though, maybe we can skip the last section."
"Oh, but that's where Santa is," he chided, "Don't you want to sit on his lap?"
I nearly choked on my own tongue as we started walking toward the Impala.
"You know damn well it's not Santa's lap I'd like to sit on."
The amount of air Dean sucked in was pretty hilarious. It made me quite pleased that I'd managed to do that to Dean Winchester.
Over the next couple of weeks Dean opened up to me - just a little - and I soaked up every moment.
Sam and Eileen left for a few days the week before Christmas. They made it sound like a hunt but I think they just wanted to be alone together without feeling guilty. The two of them had been spending so much time trying to make me feel welcome and teach me about their world. I think Sam also figured that Dean would be his protective self and not let me go out exploring alone and that would force him to talk with me.
The first couple of days Dean puttered around in the garage or the shooting range so I puttered around looking into several of the empty but unlocked rooms.
I found Castiel and Jack's old rooms - they were just like on the show but far less dusty than I'd imagined they'd be. It made me wonder if the boys kept them clean as some type of memento or alter to their long gone friends. That made more sense for Castiel I suppose but I left those rooms quickly because it felt like I was intruding on some personal thing I wasn't meant to see yet.
Eventually I found the room I was looking for - the tree and lights and all the things to decorate the bunker. I dragged several boxes to my room and sorted them out and made a list of things I wanted to complete the vibe I wanted.
I wrote a quick note and taped it to his door:
Dean,
I've run to town be back in like an hour. Call me if there's anything you want me to bring back - besides pie.
While I'd been sorting I'd heard Dean come in from the garage and I'd bumped into him by the bathroom and he told me he was going to clean a couple of guns that he'd pulled out of the trunk of the car.
So while he was busy cleaning and checking guns I'd go grab some stuff for dinner and the rest of the things I would need for Christmas and Yule decorations.
I got snacks and food around pretty quickly but I got a bit distracted by all the colors and options and didn't return to the bunker for nearly two hours.
Dean was on a tear through the bunker calling my name when I came down the stairs to the map table with all my bags.
"Dean I'm in the war room," I called out as I stashed most of the decorations in an empty cabinet across the room.
"Where the hell have you been?" he rushed into the room and wrapped me in a hug. "I was worried sick about you."
"You could have called me," I replied, "I left you a note."
"Yeah which I found like almost two hours ago!" he stepped back and gripped me by the shoulders. "I did call you - like 20 times."
I pulled my phone out to show him I had no missed calls, "I never got a call."
Dean mirrored me by pulling his phone out and showing me the missed calls, "Well, I did."
"I was getting some food and trying to surprise you. I got a little distracted looking at Christmas stuff," I told him as I reached int the bag and pulled out the ugly Christmas sweater I got him. "I'll restart my phone too."
"Thank you," he smiled sadly.
"Hey but look," I showed him the sweater that had two T-Rex wearing Santa hats and drinking beer.
Dean laughed at the sweater, "Why do you want me to wear that?"
"Because it's fun and funny and you need more of that in your life," I replied. "Oh and I'll do better about restarting my phone when I go out. I guess I took for granted the amazing connectivity in here. That and the fact that I'm so used to seeing you and Sam never have service issues."
"What do you mean?"
"The fans always said the most unrealistic part of Supernatural was the fact that Sam and Dean always had cell service no matter where they were."
"Yeah we don't get magic phone connection here," Dean laughed.
He looked at the sweater that he'd laid on the table, "So am I supposed to put that on now and prance around for you?"
I burst out laughing no, "You can wear it on Christmas or Christmas Eve."
"Ok, so where's yours?"
"I'm not telling," I grinned. "You get to see it the day of. But for now we're going to decorate the library."
"You're not kidding are you?"
"No, I got these cute little snowmen and this candy cane garland," I told him but stopped, "Oh the food."
"How could you forget the food?"
"I got you a pie too," I grinned as I sauntered back to the food bags. I hadn't shown him the rest of the items I'd gotten for decoration yet, I wanted that to be a surprise.
"Well, in that case, let me help you."
We worked together making dinner before we went to the library to decorate - I could tell Dean thought it was a little bit dumb but he kept smiling and laughing at my jokes, and my attempts to reach things that were just a bit too high.
Once again I was struck by how natural I felt with Dean - how domestic it all felt.
When the last of the lights were hung and the snowmen were placed I looked at Dean and he was just grinning at me.
"I like the longer hair," I stated just above a whisper. I had briefly mentioned that it would look good if he'd grown it out a little and he'd given it a try. I don't think he'd cut it in over a month and already it was getting longer - it looked so touchable.
"You're staring," he chuckled.
"I'm not staring - I'm admiring. "I do like the longer hair, but if you decide you don't it's totally okay to cut it."
"Eh, I'll leave it for now," he smiled, "I forgot to put some stuff back into the trunk," he paused, "I noticed you didn't take Baby on your outing."
"Well, one I doubted you would let me drive her yet and two that would have ruined the surprise I have for you."
"I thought the sweater was my surprise?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It was part of it," I smiled back. "Dean, stop being so suspicious, I'm just trying to do nice things for you and your family."
"I know."
"But you're not used to people just being genuinely nice to you," I added.
"Well, no," he defended.
"Yeah, because Jody and Donna are genuinely nice to you right?"
"Yeah?"
"So, other people can be too," I pointed out.
He nodded and walked away.
The next afternoon Dean went to the Dean-Cave to watch some movies, and I set about to finish the decorating in the war room. I wasn't sure if they'd met Mrs. Butters in this world but I remembered the look of wonder and delight on both Sam and Dean's faces when they entered the decorated bunker in that episode and I was hoping to basically recreate that moment if I could.
By the time Sam and Eileen walked in the door and Dean came jogging in to greet them I was just finishing securing the lighted garland on the handrail.
"Oh wow," Dean marveled.
"Did you do this by yourself?" Sam asked.
"This is beautiful," Eileen gasped.
"Surprise!" I pulled myself up from the bottom step and smiled at them, "What do you think?"
"It's even better than when Mrs. Butters set up Christmas for us," Sam grinned.
'Okay, I've learned something,' I thought. 'They did have their own Mrs. Butters.'
"Sam's right, this is awesome," Dean told me as he put his hand on my shoulder.
We had dinner and played card games that evening. But when Dean's phone rang he went to the other room to grab his dad's journal to answer the hunter's questions.
"Hey Sam," I said as I pulled a package out, "I could use your help with one more thing."
"What's that?" he asked as I began to unwrap the item.
"I need your height," I gestured for him to follow me to the doorway. "I noticed a little hook placed in the center of the doorway and I can only assume it's been left there for this to hang from," I said as I pulled the little sprig of mistletoe free.
Sam smiled happily as he took it from my hand and hung it on the hook for me.
"Perfect," Eileen grinned as she pressed up on her toes to plant a kiss on Sam's lips.
I laughed as they walked back into the library.
"What's so funny?" Dean asked as he stepped up to the threshold.
"Oh nothing much."
Sam cleared his throat and Dean's eyes shot to his brother, "You know the rules Dean," Sam said pointing up.
Dean's eyes floated up to where Sam was pointing, "Is that what I think it is?"
"Just kiss her Dean," Eileen taunted.
"But I'm not wearing my sweater," he muttered.
"I don't think the outfit matters," I smirked, "It can be on the cheek if you're nervous."
Dean shocked the hell out of me when he cupped my head in his giant hands, tilting my head back and pressing his lips to mine.
I'd never felt that way from a kiss - there were fireworks and a mist that settled around us, and I've never been happier in all my life.
"What the hell?" Dean and I whispered when we parted ways.
That fog and mist - I wasn't imagining it. The fog was actually a pinkish lavender color and the the lights were literally little white and blue flashes.
My lips tingled and my body hummed in a way I couldn't even describe.
Sam snapped Dean and I out of our little moment when he stated, "That can't be good," and darted to a bookshelf on the far side of the library.
Dean's hand drifted to mine and I wasn't sure if he even noticed he'd grabbed my hand - it felt like I was his lifeline in that moment.
On Christmas Eve Sam came to us and explained that he found something but he was going to go out and summon Evangeline - an angel that had helped them in the past.
"Is that safe?" I asked - noticing once again that Dean's hand had engulfed mine.
"Yeah, we aren't battling the angels or hell anymore - she's like the supervisor for Cupids but she gets a lot of the "office gossip" so to speak," Sam explained.
"Well, what do we need and where are we going?" Dean asked.
"I have everything in this basket," Sam answered. "I thought we'd go out to the old warehouse building at the quarry on the east side of town."
"That's probably a good idea," Dean squeezed my hand before letting it go.
I missed the contact immediately but I quickly realized I should be grabbing my stuff and so I ran for my coat and wallet to follow the boys out to the garage - it almost felt like a field trip!
It was a thirty minute drive and took nearly an hour to set up the warding, sigils, and summoning spell. Dean taught me how to do some of it myself and gave me a can of spray paint.
I was nearly shaking in my boots by the time we were set up.
Sam did the whole thing - his Latin was kind of amazing to watch honestly.
When Evangeline appeared she glanced at the brothers and said, "Hello boys," in a way that resembled Crowley so much I began to wonder if this was a good idea.
It took her less than 10 seconds for her stoic face to light up with happiness.
"We have a question," Dean started.
"Oh you've found her."
"What?" the three of us said in unison.
"Oh and she does the thing with you."
"What thing?" I asked.
"The thing where they say and do things at the same time - but now there's three of you doing it," she beamed.
"Okay this is getting weird, right?" I looked from Dean to Sam.
"Evie, just tell us what's happened," Dean barked.
"Well, you found your soulmate - silly," she told him as she took a step closer to me, Dean jumping between us.
"So there's always been a secret book about the Winchester line - obviously you two know about your parents and yourselves. But she was always destined for you Dean. I couldn't find her - searched the planet, twice, myself."
"She was in another universe," Sam told her.
"Ahh, yep - how very like him. See Chuck, as you know him was always trying to well fuck with you guys," she paused when I gasped at the use of foul language. "Oh honey, this is pretty mild talk, don't worry bad language isn't gonna get anyone in trouble," she chuckled. "There was a ripple of energy and this explains it, I think," she paused.
"Dean, I need to put my had on her head - it won't hurt but I need to check her and be sure - she's putting off the most orgasmic energy and if we don't figure out how to stop it you three will be even bigger targets than normal."
Dean stepped aside, slightly and allowed her close enough to lay her palm on my head.
"This might get bright in here so you all might wanna close your eyes," she said.
Even with my eyes scrunched shut I could see the bright blue flash of light that happened a few seconds later - my whole body thrummed, felt overly hot, and then the light.
When she let go and said, "Open your eyes child," I nearly fell over from the dizziness.
"What just happened?"
"From what I can tell, Chuck had installed a grace beacon in you."
"She's an angel?" Dean asked, his face marred with abject horror.
"No, she is human, just like you," Evangeline answered. "My guess is that it was set to go off when you two connected, as a way of alerting the angels, or monsters. Chuck didn't want you two together - it would make you too happy. So he set a fail-safe inside of her and when you two did the deed it went off."
"There was no deed doing," Dean snapped, his voice an octave higher than usual.
"Oh well there was some kind of connection," she turned to face me head-on. "Was there connection sweetie?"
"We kissed."
"Under the mistletoe," Sam added.
Evangeline kept staring at me, "Yes, I suppose that might do it," she cocked her head the other direction as if studying me, "You were so well hidden but I can see you - you've wanted this man for years. You longed for him but you believed he was nothing more than a character - but it's more than just longing for his vessel - which is a beautiful vessel am I right?"
When I didn't answer she laughed, "It's fine to admit darlin', he's a good lookin' man - for a human. Anyway, you wanted to give him comfort and compassion - when he kissed you," she glanced to Dean to make sure he was paying attention.
"When Dean kissed you it broke that little part of you open fully - that hope was realized and it released the energy - or grace. If you hadn't called me you'd be thrumming for all the supernatural creatures to see, but I can pull that grace from you and stop all of it - if you want."
"Yes she wants," Dean answered too quickly.
"Dean, I know you're protective and all but I was asking her - this is her choice," she glanced at the boys and back to me, "Bodily autonomy - that's another thing you wished for the boys right?"
I finally made myself nod.
"Good, well. This is the final key to unlocking all of your true freedom - you'll be all safe to live out your lives and do whatever it is you humans like. But you must give me permission to remove it," she told me.
"What if I said no?" I asked, just wanting to have all the facts.
"You and Dean will still be together, but that fancy warded bunker y'all live in? Well that won't keep you as safe as you think. See right now you're a beacon and everything that's still living that the boys stopped from doing evil is able to sense. Eventually the monsters will be drawn to wherever you are - be it the side of a lake, the middle of Texas eating BBQ, or hidden in that bunker of yours."
I didn't like that description any more than Dean did, but I had one more question, "Will it hurt?"
"Not much," she answered with a shrug.
"But she'll survive?" Sam piped up.
"Of course - I work with Cupids - I love love and wouldn't dream of taking Dean's from him. But Dean I gotta tell you man, she is all in so if we do this you gotta be all in too. No more building walls between you two."
The color drained from Dean's face and he nodded.
I wondered if it was a subconscious thing he'd been doing or if he was actively trying to avoid me but before I could keep on that train of thought Evangeline's hand landed on my shoulder.
"Are you ready dear?"
"Uh, yeah should I sit or something?"
She pondered that a moment, "Yes, probably," she answered and I sat down crisscross applesauce.
Evangeline mirrored me and placed her hands on either side of my head and began to hum.
I kept silent not wanting to irritate her but I wondered if the humming was necessary.
"Yes the humming is there for a reason," she mumbled and went back to humming, "No close your eyes and concentrate - imagine me pulling a bright, glowing blue string from your head."
I did as she commanded and the pain started. It was a white hot stinging that seemed to come from the top of my head and just when I thought I couldn't take it any more I felt Dean's hands on my back.
"Open your eyes. Please open your eyes!" he shouted, and I was trying but I couldn't quite get there.
"If she dies because of you I'll"
"You'll what, smite me?" Evangeline snarked. "She's fine, keep coaxing, she has to find her way from the darkness to you."
At that point I imagined the bunker without lights and began following Dean's voice - when I reached the front door, I rushed to pull it open and when I burst through the door it was nothing but a bright light and then Dean's face.
I was laying in that old warehouse with Dean and Sam leaned over watching me, calling to me.
When I sat up Dean pulled me into a hug and Sam patted my back.
"There, it's done, she's safe and healthy and you don't have to hide out anymore - all of you go live your lives. Get your own houses and make babies if you want - or not just make gross passionate sex I don't even care, just stop calling me to Earth in the middle of morning meetings okay?"
I just sat there with my throbbing head and let the boys say good bye and let her leave.
We returned to the bunker and were surprised by Jody and the girls - they decided to come see us for Christmas - somehow they'd all gotten off work on Christmas day and we had an amazing day of presents, and food.
Dean wasn't so sure about my Christmas sweater - it looked like a tree with ornaments and a little brown squirrel holding a red ornament while wearing a Santa hat.
Sam laughed so hard about it all and Dean promised that he'd be getting Eileen a moose Christmas sweater next year if Sam didn't shut his pie hole.
That night Dean told me that this was by far the best Christmas of his life.
That was all I'd wanted - to give him that day of joy and happiness - it didn't come with elaborate gifts - I didn't know him well enough yet to get him anything meaningful, but it came with smiles and laughter and love.
Can you write the DMC men with a reader who’ve never seen snow for once in her life so the first time they spent their Christmas together, she is extremely excited
To the point in which her first reaction to seeing snow for the first time is to dive her head first into the snow like a fox despite possible chances of brain freeze
The first time she saw a frozen lake, she immediately jumped down skating. Imagine a dog having zoomies, that’s basically her initial reaction to experiencing actual winter for the first time
She gets curious of everything like Christmas traditions, customs, what do people eat during Christmas, etc They have to remind her that it’s okay if she doesn’t have enough money buying Christmas stuffs because this will not be the only Christmas she’ll ever celebrate in her life
(Like a mom telling her kids that they’ll go to Disneyland next year, promising to buy merchandises and stuffs meanwhile the kid is worried that their mom is bluffing)
P/S: As someone who grew up in a Tropical country, there is basically no concept of Christmas other than the cool uncle cosplaying as the Santa, a worn down Christmas tree used year after year; the mall and the l thing I’ve got to experience that is somewhat close to Christmas is the Christian neighborhood and the local church 🙁
Oh that sucks, man. Where I'm from, we have snow 3/4 of the year. Some people don't even bother to take down their outdoor Christmas lights.
Sparda boys + V x Reader who has never seen snow headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-Dante was used to snow, so he didn't think there was anything interesting about it.
-You, on the other hand, had never seen snow in your life, so the moment it began snowing, you beheld the scene like you were watching a new planet come into existence--and for you, it kinda was.
-He watched in amusement as you leaped into a nearby snowdrift, sinking into the powdery white and quite possibly suffering a brain freeze seconds afterwards. He laughed as you tried to eat snow, and laughed some more when you started rolling around in it, now drenched because of the snow that melted on your skin.
-Dante made sure to rescue you when you got stuck, however that happened, and spent the afternoon making snowmen with you.
-He also had you help him hang up the Christmas lights, even if the majority of your job was untangling the knots since he was too lazy to do it.
-Teaches you all the Christmas traditions like decorating the tree, making cookies, decking the halls, and such, but your favorite is drinking hot chocolate while cuddling up to a movie.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil doesn't understand why you freak out over snow. It's just frozen water, what's so interesting?
-Oh, but it does entertain him to see you frolic and leap about with joy, so he stands there and smiles, arms folded tightly against his chest.
-Had to pull you out of a snowdrift because you don't understand snow isn't water and cannot be swum in.
-Snows you Christmas traditions such as baking, decorating, gift giving and such.
-You were a bit down when you learned gift giving was important to Christmas celebrations, as you didn't have much money to your name, but Vergil told you not to worry. Your gift doesn't have to be expensive, it can be something as simple as your presence.
-You guys have a lot of fun baking cookies together, that's for sure, even you're the one doing most of the cooking since Vergil is useless in the kitchen.
□ Nero □
-Nero thought it was so cute how you got so worked up over snow.
-He took you to a frozen lake nearby and watched as you tried to skate in your snowboots.
-Of course you fell down several times, but he was there to pick you back up.
-Made you hot cocoa while you watched movies after a long day of decking the halls, and now that's your favorite Christmas memory.
-He teaches you about the traditions and stuff, but tells you not to worry about giving expensive gifts. Handmade things or hugs and kisses suffice just fine.
-You guys ended up under the mistletoe once and both of you were blushing madly about it for hours, even though you're already dating.
● V ●
-It's V's first Christmas too, so you guys can be innocent little idiots together.
-Both of you were freaking out over snow, except you tried to dive in while he cautiously poked the surface with his cane.
-Neither of you know anything about Christmas traditions, so you hung out at Devil May Cry to soak up information.
-Had a blast helping Nero and Kyrie make the Christmas feast, as well as assisting the others with setting up the tree.
-You went out to a frozen lake, where both of you nearly died from fall damage when you slipped on the ice and fell down.
-Don't worry, other than being a little bruised, you guys are both fine and have been laughing about the incident ever since.
It‘s getting a bit romantic, folks! @gaiaseyes451 and I wish you a nice Christmas Eve!
Chapter 3 on Ao3
Clear as a trumpet across the countryside, the piercing cry of a newborn baby rang through the night.
Crowley smiled, “that’ll be your newborn King, I expect.”
Aziraphale closed his eyes and exhaled, “yes, I suspect you're correct.”
“I should be going, have a feeling your work is just beginning.” Crowley squeezed Aziraphale’s hand once more and, carefully dislodging Jemimah, stood to begin his way down the hill.
Aziraphale watched him go. “Good night, Crowley,” he called down the hillside.
Crowley stopped and looked over his shoulder, Aziraphale could hear the smile in his voice even though he could not see it. “See you tomorrow, angel.” He said, then replaced his glasses and began the walk back to Jerusalem.
Aziraphale was sitting on the boulder watching the flock at rest when a blinding light appeared a few meters in front of him. He shielded his eyes from the radiance as a glowing figure emerged, arms lifted upwards in exultation.
“I say unto you,” boomed a voice from the light. “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find the baby wrapped in a linen blanket in room seven of the Starlit Stays Lodge.”
Aziraphale bit the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. When he was quite sure he had mastered his face he responded as neutrally as possible. “Hello, Gabriel.”
