Grace is extremely jealous and demands detailed explanation of what the planet is like
Simon: “Uhhhhh it’s real hot.. everything feels heavy? Lots of rocks everywhere?”

Later Grace sends Simon out again with a human camera to film things… the camera melts almost instantly.

He’s probably felt his head get torn off in the dreams. Me too. God I wish I could help him here. It seems even more hopeless on the surface than in the blood.
Monster: I am snorting this au like crack cocaine. Having Simon survive but he gets trapped in his own head as his survival instincts take over so he doesn’t even feel like himself, but it’s still him in there so he fights Elli, resists the hivemind, and drags submarines back to the surface but he doesn’t know why. He needs to get found and reminded that he’s still in there. He’s still Simon. Dear god I want to bite him
ISWM: The best au imo. He actually gets to be happy for once. He’s slow to trust and is snappy and irritable, but that’s his trauma response. He lost an arm for fucks sake and now he was in a place he didn’t recognize with strange people. But they give him space. They don’t get angry with him. They let him rest. They give him food and time. And Engie is there. Convineer for the win :)

I had only really heard of markiplier before. Never watched any of his content (exept the iron lung ones now recently) but the one thing ive always kinda thought about him, is that he is very beautiful.

So you see the blood around his mouth? He “breathed blood” in (ig) and it kinda seeped out his gills . Thereby The stains on his sweater. Idk maybe he sneezed.
And while i love tails (again, to a somewhat feral degree) i dont think it actually fits his carachter much, so i (suprisingly) wont give him one. I was gonna give him scales. But the eel didnt have scales and i guess it didnt make that much sense 🤷♀️ his skin is probably just redder and a different (tougher?) texture is some areas. Kinda like the burns

Basically an au where he gets the black box gets flung around sub fills with (not entirely) blood and hes lost for a few days. But he escapes the eel and ava doesnt die. Simon is eventually found and sabmved yippe!
So
• he can echolocate (involuntarily or subconsciously mostly) and thats how he navigated the submarine so well despight the lack of light. The echolocation is sorta like a constant flow of quiet clicks. Maybe they get louder when hes agitated? Cuz then hed have the need to “see” further. Personally i like if makes happy clicks too. Cuz simon deserves happiness
• his eyes are too sensitive to actually see anything in normal light anymore (i get this) and he can wear his bandanna over his eyes to help with the brightness. No he cant see with the bandanna on, or without it really.
•his burn scars heal but his skin is still tough and red and not because its a scar but cuz he haz weird scalless fish skin now ig
• he gets cold really fast. He kinda hates warm places (or whatever submarine ptsd) but he desperately needs it, and instictively (i do not like this word very much) seeks it. (also am i the only one who thought the submarine being hot was because of the blood. Cuz blood is warm ?)
• suprisingly he doesnt have claustrophobia. He might actually find small spaces more comforting. I say this mostly because of his poor vision paired with the limited range of his echolocation, (and his familiarity with one space? Idk i havent been in a submarine. Lowkey looks cozy but i have thallasofobia ) i think hed most likely be afraid of big open spaces (the ocean??)
• blood doesnt outright scare him but it makes him really tense/ puts him on edge. Looks at you with murderous eyes??? Not judgmentally
• touch deprived but afraid he will radiate people (i think his radiation went bye bye cuz hes my pookie and i dont whant spicy air for him) even though hes not radioactive anymore hes still (i forgot the word help) umm cautious..? Scared … uuhhh. Cringes?? Nahh idk low key jumps away from u, muscle memory that whas never memorized. 🤷♀️

Id make him like me, that he avoids showers but still likes them , its more the thought of getting in the shower thats lowkey scary , but the shower is nice in itself ig (im writing this as im actively avoiding a shower .Im very good at staying clean, trust. I dont need a shower rn. *my shower looking at me dissapointedly, with the towel i put there 2 hours ago for showering*)
Imagine if he puts the shower hose in his mouth (i did this when the water used to be drinkable (thats when i lived on the other side of the continent)) and water just. Comes out of his gills. Idk it was funnier in my head…. If it the first shower he has ,after getting rescued, he doesnt .. wash his gills… (i mean he prolly didnt know that would be necessary) and then later he sneezes. All of the blood that would be left from when he was on the submarine (and unknowingly breathing the blood(or subconsciously? I dont think hed be aware enough to notice or somthing??? Like the ,oh whatever)) would immediatly stain his clothes (kinda like i drew above.)

actually i have two more head canons (this is me editing later)
so, flashing lights distract him. that's kind of obvious. yes it will hurt his eyes but what if its something important. i don't think it has to happen every time, maybe only when he's off guard. distracting him negatively, just catching his attention or causing him to disassociate, im not entirely sure, u pick.
his eyes (both of them) glow (or reflect) in the dark.
Borrowing this one: he has the light lure thing :D but maybe he dint notice because instead of it being in front of him it was slicked back into his hair because of the weight of blood?

Ok just ONE more headcanon. So fish have a really really cood sense of smell. Well for simon rn, there probably isnt a whole lot to smell other than blood and idk future dying civilization things. Not the most fragrant things… so maybe (i say that alot) he can also smell emotions? To some degree. Just a little bit. Like a good intuition :D 👍

Grace and Rocky come across a dark patch of space containing a very confused space station and the fucked up blood moons
Grace ends up parlaying with the COI and essentially sending them directions out of the dark patch and informing them about Astrophage and how to use it as fuel and how it’s eating the stars. As an act of good will and to further prove that he is an ally and telling the truth, he sends the information with a spare water recycler the Hail Mary had just incase of the first one breaking (Grace trusts Rocky to fix and maintain the main one on the ship)
It works! Ally aquired! Yippee!
The COI pack up their stuff from the blood moons and cancels the sending convicts down (they found the black box on the surface btw) and tentatively follows the Hail Mary’s directions to the (fading but still present) stars
Curious about what the COI told them about the blood moons, Grace and Rocky go fishing once again to confirm if the ‘blood’ is some form of astrophage (it is but very mutated and bad)
Swimming around the blood ocean is a freshly mutated Simon trying to find the surface with great difficulty until he senses the sampler on the chain and grabs it to use it to guide him upwards but it suddenly is pulled up into the Hail Mary with Simon instinctively clinging onto it for dear life
White the chain is being pulled up Grace and Rocky FREAK OUT cause “oh god we actually fished out an alien! What do we do what do we do????”
Said ‘alien’ is fine but passed out from the speed and sudden temperature and air pressure change. He is kept in the airlock with oxygen and a prayer that that is what he breathes
He’s fine, new crewmate aquired!
The arm that got ripped off got reattached by the blood into a powerful fish tail (maybe cause the blood though it more useful or just didn’t know how human limbs work we don’t know) he can hold and pick things up with it after some practice
He has gills and can breathe in blood water and air although blood feels gross to breathe and air makes him thirsty easily. He sometimes wears a wet shirt to keep his gills hydrated, Grace is incredibly normal about this
Rows of teeth on one side that keep falling out and growing back when he bites something too hard (like Rocky’s space ball when Simon tries and fails to fight him)
whenever a tooth is lost Grace swipes it to study it all excited like a kid in a candy store
Has X-ray vision he can turn on that gives him a headache but lets him see through the blood ocean and some walls with green flashes of light
He refuses to use it on the ship until 100% sure it won’t give anyone radiation sickness
(Grace is the only one who can’t see through walls lol)
Has a small anglerfish like lore that glows red and flashes green when he uses his X-ray powers. It brightens and dims based of his mood which he’s pissed he can’t control
Has big ol claws and Webbed hands and feet that are stained or coloured blood red, Simon hates his hands and how they remind him of the metaphorical blood on them… also he can’t wear gloves anymore so yeah, not his favourite
Grace thinks Simon is the coolest thing he has ever seen and is constantly caught between wanting to treat Simon respectfully like a person to make him feel better and wanting to study him and science nerd about his body’s abilities and powers and how they work
When food runs low on the way back to Erid, Simon stops eating and goes into hibernation. Grace and Rocky monitor him and Grace gives him wet blankets to not dry up and an iv of fluids. When they arrive and they get scienced food sent up via the space elevator Simon wakes up like he just had a nice nap and wasn’t asleep for months with little to no food, Grace cries his eyes out with relief
