Love is Love: H&G and MML editions
I keep your wanted poster. Upon the wall. It hides a nasty stain that's lying there. So don't you ask me. To give it back. I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me. I'm not in love, no, no
Canon compliant version

Life got in the way and I overlooked my askbox for awhile, and had to catch up with the latest HnG ive missed out on these last couple of months
If I was really pressed: I'd definitely say my favourite character was Lauren and Kevin, and my favourite relationships revolve around that friend group--Anthony and Hiromi and especially Fred and such.
This is all to say that while I dont dislike Fistfoot, my attachment to them is borne solely out of YOUR fascination to them, because I love your blog and everything that you do, so i try to keep an eye out.
Just to get it out of the way; these are two very lonely boys. Lyle, especially--up til Lauren's (not so) sudden change of heart, had been almost completely dependent on Lauren for a lot. Companionship, partnership, and leadership, in particular. Having her wrenched out of the picture forces him into this unstable loss of purpose and guidance, and Foot becomes this new anchor.
Lyle, much like most other teenage characters on the show, has the unfailing desire to prove himself. I really like the way Dwampy tackles insecurity, anxiety and teenage growth in their shows without infantilising these kids, because this undertone is prominent and serious no matter what role these kids assume.
I love the growth in their relationship dynamics despite the time constraints of limited episodes. On Lyle's end, it grows from tolerance (proving himself) to dependence (his only other friend, a bully needs support) to endearment--which lands that PERFECT friends to lovers pipeline the trope is so famous for. Foot provides Lyle a sense of confidence, self esteem, and support. And Foot, being equally lonely, gets fair trade hanging out with a friend he clearly adores and admires, who NEEDS him. Theyre both getting companionship out of this, a dynamic almost terrifying to break, which in my eyes can lead to a lot of beautiful pining. I think Fistfoot as a ship is genuinely, incredibly CUTE. You'd think its because ohhh theyre teenagers and thats why im struggling to imagine them outside of teenage romance context. No. Because i have no troubles extolling you the absolute levels of brainrot I have stewed on for the love triangle between Candace, Kevin and Hiromi. Fistfoot is just.... Cute. Theyre assholes together. They hold each other up and they hype each other up and its just so. I mean. They're freaking adorable man. Thats it. Thats the post.
