Ended up drawing Iroha Tamaki: the protagonist of Magia Record today! The original mobile game has a very special place in my heart, so I’m happy that I felt inspired to draw her today for the sake of practice.😄

I had a lot of fun working with Deanie, reading their story and getting to know them. They were super open to me being a new artist and still learning not only my craft but also my tools. Digital art opens such a world of possibilities and I feel as if I've just scrated the surface. I am excited to keep exploring the different brushes and features.  This fest art was completed exclusively with the use of the Chalk brush tool. I’ve had a few mentors and friends in the art field give me advice on this art and as of right now I am not looking for any more critique, even if you think it’s helpful, I assure you I have come to terms with my shortcomings, I don’t need them pointed out again ^_^.  Please give Deanie’s story a read it’s very good and I am honestly very fortunate to have been able to claim their work. I always enjoy the unique stories that come out of this fest, I know you all will too. Help a fledgling artist out?

Does anyone know any online sources or even books that have references on drawing sort of heftier human figures?

Like seriously, the classes I’ve taken, the art books I’ve looked at, there are always only slender, muscular, average, or lithe figures. I’m honestly chubby and like chubby guys, so I feel sorta left out from the whole deal… I wanna draw bigger guys and gals!

Some Lone Digger stuff I attempted. I feel my first attempt at prismacolors was a bit of a crash landing (trying to do shadow tones).

Doberman turned out much better with just shading.

It kinda astounds me how some tiny little details can totally change how a face looks. It's cool to see what makes up a sad or happy face. Just...the way that we can recognize the features and connect them to an emotion we are familiar with and can empathize with...
