I’ve heard folks say now and then, “It’s just a story, it’s not real” in regards to things like films, books, games, tv, etc, as if telling stories doesn’t matter. I don’t believe that, never have. Though many are a work of fiction, the feelings, thoughts, and experiences that inspire the characters, plot lines, scenes, etc. is, I believe, an integral part of expressing the human experience. Food for thought.

Happy Pride Month, everyone! Like so many other folks in the LGBTQIA+ community, this month is very important to me- especially given the current state of the world. There are so many places, even in today’s world, where Queer and Trans people are treated horribly, silenced, endangered, etc. just for being themselves.

It’s amazing that so many people are able to stand up in solidarity to the oppression us LGBTQIA+ people face on a daily basis just by being who we are. Love is resistance and should be celebrated, both love towards others and towards ourselves. If you or anyone you know are members of the LGBTQIA+ community, please know that you are deeply loved and deserve to be celebrated and thrive just by being you. Love yourself, and stay kind.
