You Faint (Hoseok and Namjoon)
You hadn’t eaten enough that day. Or the past few days for that matter. Or slept. Work and school and everything in between had been getting to you. But you’d been managing to get everything together, and put on a controlled face for your boyfriend. If he had any idea how overworked you were lately, he would be so mad…
Fortunately, he seemed to have not picked up on your poor eating and sleeping habits lately. Since he and the boys were so busy preparing for their next comeback, he didn’t notice when you went to bed too late (since he was also crawling into bed not long after) and he ate most of his meals at the studio.
Today, your first day off in a long while, you had planned to catch up on sleep. But your boyfriend had invited you to the studio to see some of the music and dances they would be performing for the comeback, and you didn’t want to pass up a chance to finally spend time with him. Not to mention you were excited for the new music!
But now that you were here, you were questioning the decision to get out of bed. You hadn’t taken the time to eat breakfast, after having that habit for weeks, and when you thought back, you weren’t sure if you’d had more than a few bites of dinner last night. Under the bright practice room lights, you felt yourself start to sweat.
The guys were in the middle of doing some warm-ups and stretching, and you saw your boyfriend flash you a smile and a cheeky thumbs up. You tried to return it and stood to go grab a water bottle from the cooler in the corner. As you took one step, your head began spinning. Your heart was pounding and a cold sweat was broken out over every part of your body. It almost felt like you were going to be sick, and then–oh no.
You realized right as your vision started to blur and blacken at the corners what was happening. You felt your legs give out, causing you to fall to the hard studio floor, completely unconscious.
Hoseok looked over his shoulder at you again, just in time to see you start to fall. There was no hesitation as he immediately broke into a sprint towards you, the cellphone he had been holding clattering to the ground. “Jagi,” he gasped, falling to his hands and knees on the ground beside you. He had no time for anyone else. All the words and noise around him was imperceptible as he felt his entire world crumbling.
He grabbed your shoulders, shaking you. “Jagi, wake up,” he begged, barely feeling the tears rolling down his cheeks. Someone tried to pull his arms away, but he struggled against it. A split second later though, he stopped, letting the arms hold him, terrified of hurting you any further. “Jagi,” he sobbed. Now, instead of fighting the arms wrapped around him, he curled into the warm embrace.
“It’s okay, hyung,” he heard Jungkook’s voice in his ear. The maknae’s arms squeezed him tight as Hoseok, through tear-blurred vision, watched others tend to you. A staff member placed a cooling pack on your forehead, and another had elevated your feet to promote blood flow back to your head.
Jungkook gently swayed himself and Hoseok back and forth, in an attempt to comfort. “Did you cry this much when I passed out?” he asked, trying to joke like usual to ease the tension.
Had it been anyone other than you, Hoseok might have been able to smile or laugh a bit. But it was you, and all he could do was clutch Jungkook’s arms as the maknae continued to squeeze him tightly from behind, half to restrain and half to comfort.
When your eyes started to flutter open again, a brand new wave of tears came flooding from Hoseok. “Y/N,” he sobbed, breaking free of Jungkook once again and throwing himself to your side. His normally sunshiney face appeared in your line of sight.
“Hobi,” you said, reaching up to wipe a tear from his cheek. “Why are you crying? Don’t cry, what happened?”
Hoseok sniffled and forced a tiny smile to his face. He stroked your hair gently and thanked his stars, once again, for giving him someone as good as you. “You just had a little fall, jagi,” he murmured to you. “You passed out a little.”
Your eyes darted from him to the others gathered around, then back to him. “Oh,” was all you could say. You felt embarrassment and shame washing over you in hot waves.
“Don’t worry,” Hoseok assured you, his tears now held back. “You’ll be just fine. You’ve got me watching over you, after all. And I’m not about to let my sunshine go out.”
Namjoon couldn’t have moved faster to your side--well, he could have, but he tripped at least twice in his attempts to get all of his limbs up from the floor so fast. When he made it over to you, he didn’t even say anything or kneel down beside you. He stood there, both hands on his forehead, looking more scared than any of the members had ever seen him before.
Everyone else was doing something. A staff member had run for the nurse and a first aid kit. Hoseok was rolling up the sleeves of your hoodie in an attempt to cool you off, while Yoongi sat nearby waving a magazine like a fan. Jimin held your head in his lap and was placing a cool pack onto your forehead.
Namjoon didn’t even hear as Seokjin tried to address him. “Joon, did she eat breakfast this morning? Yah! Namjoon,” Seokjin shouted, giving his leader a small shove to gain his attention. When Namjoon’s eyes turned to him, Seokjin suddenly felt a tiny bit of regret for being so harsh.
The leader’s eyes had never been so wide and filled with fear. Not before their debut, not when they’d first gone overseas, not even when they’d been the victims of that “kidnapping” prank so long ago. This was a new, primal fear that Seokjin saw in Namjoon’s eyes.
His world was falling apart right in front of him.
Seokjin immediately wrapped Namjoon in his arms. “It’s okay,” he said, holding his younger brother tightly. There were so few times when Namjoon needed a hyung, and this was one of them. Seokjin felt Namjoon’s arms cling onto him and his body shake with sobs. “Don’t worry, Joonie, it’ll be okay.”
“Namjoon-hyung,” Jimin said from the ground, and Namjoon pushed away from Seokjin quickly to see you stirring. Now he fell to the ground beside you, feeling his heart beat again in his chest. Jimin gestured that Namjoon take his place, and they gently shifted your head from one lap to another.
Your blurry eyes focused on Namjoon’s face. “Oppa, what happened?” you asked.
After letting out a shaky breath and clearing his throat, Namjoon answered. “You fainted, baby.”
You nodded, slowly. That’s what you thought. “I guess you took care of me, huh?” you teased quietly. “My smart man knows everything to do.”
Namjoon couldn’t help but chuckle quietly. “I’ve never felt like I knew less,” he admitted. His fingers stroked loose strands of your hair from your face. “Don’t do that again, baby. I was helpless, and I never want to be that way with you again.”
