Something I think about a lot is the differences between automail in 03 and brotherhood

In brotherhood, Winry and Granny happily attach both Ed's arm and leg at the same time and seemingly in no time at all he's ready to spar with Al

In 03 it's entirely different. One limb is attached at once and Ed needs "at least an hour of rest" before they can attach a second one. The pain is shown as far more severe and at least on one occasion the pain essentially knocks him out and he falls asleep

I don't think it has anything to do with pain tolerance. I think brotherhood toned down the implications of having automail actually being connected to your nerves

i’d thought (foolishly, in retrospect), that i might be able to make it through this FMA rewatch experiencing only normal human emotions about Edward Elric but we just got to the part where he punches open the Door of Truth to tell Al he’ll be back for him and hoooooo boy there’s a reason i hyperfocused on this story for two years

Fun fact the only character in Fullmetal Alchemist to be drawn with nipples is Roy Mustang

I cannot stop thinking about the line in Fullmetal alchemist when Truth says "this also means that i am you" which parallels the line in Quran "God created Adam in His image"

then i remember how alchemy (al-kimiya) has Arabic origins and though that doesn't mean it has necessarily Islamic origins, i do find it interesting
