it’s eunjae’s first day off in a while. on top of group schedules – albeit smaller, reserved to studio recording sessions, still something to account for – april had been reserved for their solo album promotions. it didn’t excite them as much to go and perform their songs in the music shows, as they didn’t believe the way they were written and their sound was fit for that type of performance but eunjae had very little say on what bc decided for them. they were lucky enough to be given almost complete creative freedom over what they put out, with the company producers, composers and writers interfering very little or not at all on their creative process. it was a blessing of sorts, one they knew better than to write off with ungratefulness considering the number of idols in bc who had no freedom whatsoever. the company still controlled the promotional process, sadly, with the only schedule they were looking forward to set to be recorded in a few days still. at least people were enjoying their music, eunjae pondered. at least someone related to what they had to say.
for the first break in a while, one should perhaps take the day to rest, to relax and forget about the inconveniences of daily life. instead eunjae was standing in the middle of a half furnished living room, a bottle of wine in one hand and a half full glass on the other. a part of them itched to down it in a gulp, let the alcohol wash down their throat – they could just refill the glass after it was done, no need to dwell on it – yet a bigger part reminded them every minute that this would go down easier if they were sober. “ did you invite me over so you could keep ignoring me? ” eunjae found that to be counterproductive. it had been days since they last spoke, their last argument getting to them more than it usually did. “ will you at least listen to my opinion on the decor? because it’s severely lacking. ”
she’s pretty sure this is the exact opposite of what the company wanted her to do on this retreat, but the new environment as well as the beautiful scenery has put her in a writing mood, and she decided that she’d be spending her free time jotting down anything that came to mind. it’s somewhat become a goal of her’s to write music whenever she found the muse to do so because she knows that it’s bound to disappear if she doesn’t do it right away. there’s probably a good couple of songs that she’s lost simply because she didn’t take the time to write down what’s popped up in her mind.
suji found herself having stumbled into the music hall after having checked out the water garden. the array of flowers had brought something into her mind, and so she took a seat at one of the benches in the hall and closed her eyes, starting to hum some kind of melody. she doesn’t think it’s been too long but when she opens her eyes, she realizes that she’s no longer alone. “oh, hi.” she clears her throat before closing up the notebook that was on her lap. there’s not much written there, but she knows it’s messy, and she’d rather not show that.
Send ☛ for a public image headcanon. ( 231 words )
gold star always had a specific image in mind when it came to suji. they wanted her to be that brainy, foreign-born main vocalist who was both talented and kind, but a little extravagant just because of her experience living overseas. perhaps it was some kind of trend at the time to have at least one foreign-born idol or something, but they did their best to emphasize that point. it didn’t help—or in gold star’s case it helped a lot—that suji was actually a pretty smart student that did dream of being a pharmacist in the future. all of this is why they wanted her to debut under her english name of amelia at first, but she refused upon having too many bad memories tied to that name. however, she agreed in letting them market her in any way they wanted as long as they allow her to promote under her korean name suji.
after debuting solo, she’s slowly starting to make her way in being labeled an artist because god forbid idols are actually accepted as artists until they write their own lyrics or compose their own songs. suji has a greater connection with an older audience for her ballads and slow tempo songs, and so she’s starting to be recognized outside of simply fuse’s suji. however, that doesn’t stop people from constantly still bringing up how smart she supposedly is.
Send ✈ for an airport fashion headcanon. ( 235 words )
suji isn’t a big fashion person to begin with. yes, she enjoys shopping for her own clothes, but she usually buys a bunch of clothes at once and then wears them for years and years before deciding that she really needs to get rid of some of them. her fashion style is very simple and casual with her most used clothing item being cardigans or coats, depending on what the weather permits. though she does enjoy wearing skirts and flow-y dresses in the summer as they are comfortable and don’t stick to her as much. definitely a blouse over button-up shirts kind of girl.
a lot of the times the clothing that she happens to wear is sponsored, and her fans are quick to figure it out because it’s such a big contrast to what she wears in her daily life. she doesn’t really spend any time the night before a flight trying to figure out what she wears, and her fans have spotted her wearing the same thing multiple times when it comes to airport fashion. though when she first debuted, she will admit that she was a little more conscious about what she wore, but now that she’s been in this game for so long, she realized that it’s not worth all that time just to have a few good news pictures. she doesn’t care about making a best dressed list or not.
Send ☀ for a variety headcanon. ( 217 words )
it would be hard to describe suji as someone who is a natural born variety star or anything along those lines. when she first debuted, and she guested on variety shows with her members, most of her sections involved her showing off her wit or brains or speaking english with some other cast member that happened to be good at the language. though she always found it odd that people were so impressed with her english. she was born in britain so why would it be surprising? it should be more surprising that she can somewhat speak korean since the only time she spoke it was at home.
another good portion of her time on variety shows is her being a little clumsy and mixing up words because of her grasp on the korean language. that was more severe when she first debuted and not much of a thing now, but there’s still a couple of slip ups here and there. now, she’s not a big presence on variety shows. she’s a little more comfortable on active variety shows such as running man than talk shows because she’s more competitive than she is talkative. her favorite is definitely music variety shows though like yoo heeyeol’s sketchbook where she can talk about her music writing process and sing.
considering that hyunsoo had never really wanted to audition in the first place, his audition story isn’t the most spectacular. he had only accepted to go just because he thought it would help to make his parents worry about him less if they saw he was doing more than just wallowing in his self pity in his room for the rest of his days (though, he didn’t exactly expect to pass, so that had been the plan from the beginning.) this was back in 2012, when the topic of how much his life had changed from his injury was still very painful to him.
he auditioned as a singer, just him and his guitar, because there was nothing else he could show off anyway - the idea of him dancing or rapping in front of a panel was a preposterous one. for someone who ended up as a main vocal, he didn’t actually perform a song that showed off the true extent of the notes he could hit. after all, he just wanted to get it over and done with. instead, hyunsoo sang ‘the day before’ by nell (in true emo boy fashion) and somehow that had been a good enough choice for the company to take him in as a trainee.
❂ - voice-related headcanon (wc: 252)
as someone who had never really had an interest in performance and singing before he had been convinced to audition for bc entertainment, hyunsoo had to basically start from the basics when it came to learning the proper techniques to not injure his voice when he sang. he did improve a lot over the two-and-a-bit years that he had to train, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s the most perfect singer out there. there are times where he’s just too exhausted and that affects his voice. however, he’s gotten to a point where he can get away with these slight hiccups without the fans noticing too much, at least. he also is not the most naturally confident about his skills and talents, so sometimes he doesn’t believe that he can pull off such high and powerful notes, which also affects him sometimes too.
that being said, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an impressive voice. hyunsoo’s voice is very similar to DK’s own, and that makes him able to pull off great falsettos and runs that seem to be effortless sometimes. one thing that he takes pride in is the versatility of his voice, as well. no matter whether it’s cute and sweet like adore u or more heavy and dark like poison, he doesn’t really have much issue with fitting his voice to the mood of the song. there’s still always room for improvement, though, so making his voice the best it can be is something he’s still working on.
duri had arrived at the gold star media building not too long ago. it felt a bit strange to arrive all on his lonesome, but he guess it made sense for the whole ordeal of what they were doing for the colla3orate project between the companies. he had walked inside of the buliding, where he would end up being led to where the other members would meet before they’d go off to record. he sits down upon a chair, awaiting for the others to arrive. when he heard someone else come, he had put his phone to sleep, placing it into his pocket, and standing; just in case it happened to be a sunbae. he had a big smile on his face, something that was a usual look for the man of almost thirty. “ah, hello, hanjae!” he said, his smile seemingly growing a bit. “it’s nice to see you!”
