La pandémie de covid-19 nous a contraints à changer nos habitudes de salutation. La bise et la poignée de main sont passées à la trappe. Les nouvelles façons de se saluer ne manquent pas, mais nous les désignons hélas trop souvent par des anglicismes.
Par exemple :
le footshake / le foot shake 👎
que nous pouvons très bien rendre en français par les tournures suivantes :
le salut du pied 👍
le salut pied contre pied 👍
le pied contre pied 👍
la salutation par le(s) pied(s) 👍
la salutation par un coup de pied 👍
Et si vous voulez amuser la galerie en cette ère morose de coronavirus, vous pouvez toujours dire que vous pratiquer la "poignée de pieds" à l'instar de la poignée de main ! 🤣

挨拶の新しいカタチと、Social Distancingという概念。
新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大を受けて、世界中で従来の挨拶の方法を見直す動きが出てきています。
欧米では、親しい友人や家族との再会、ビジネスにおける挨拶の場面で、握手や抱擁、そしてチークにキスをする 「ビズ（la bise=フランス語由来）」をするのが一般的ですが、
近年では、直接の接触を避けるため、肘タッチ ”elbow bumps”や足で握手する”Footshakes”が主流になってきています。
先日行われた2020年米大統領選挙における民主党Joe Biden大統領候補とBernie Sanders候補によるCNN主催のディベートでは、冒頭で二人がelbow bumpで挨拶を交わしている場面が象徴的でした。The Washington Postは3/16の記事の冒頭で、その様子が異様な光景であると綴っています。
そして、こうした動きの中で一層顕著に強調されるようになったのが、Social Distancing とSocial Distance imagesです。新型コロナウイルス感染拡大を避けるために、人と人とが一定の距離をおきましょう、という概念で、具体的には、6 feet（約1.8ｍ）としています。
アメリカでは現在物資が不足しており、ハワイにおいてもWalmartやSam's club、Costcoの外に、開店前から長い列ができているようですが、よくみるとこのSocial Distanceを意識している人が多いようで、列がかなり長くなってしまっているようです。そこでCostcoはトイレットペーパー等に関しては整理券を配ったりして長蛇の列とならないよう工夫しているようです。
親しい関係なのに、握手や抱擁ができないなんて。こんな世界、誰が予想したでしょうか。
それでも、心の距離は近くに保っておきたいものですね。
