Jedi Knight Workout: Use the Force
What You Need to Know: Star Wars is one of the most popular movie franchises of all time, and one of my personal favorites! Becoming a Jedi Knight is a lot of work though, so if you want to master the force, you’ll need this customized Jedi Knight Workout to get you there.
It will be your choice to use it for the light side, or the dark side.
Since I can remember I have had a close connection to Star Wars. My furthest back memory of anything Star Wars related is during the 90’s when George Lucas re-released Episodes IV, V, and VI with brand new digital content and enhancements. The theater in our hometown took a week for each of the re-released and newly enhanced movies to screen them for fans.
I remember going to the theater with my brother and my parents and being instantly blown away by the larger than life characters and the epic story of the small rebellion taking on the seemingly unstoppable galactic empire to save the galaxy from almost certain doom. I was entranced by the way of the Jedi Knight, the light and the dark side, and the mysterious and overwhelming power of the force .
From there, I was hooked. I remember that following Christmas we got the VHS box set of the new, digitally enhanced remastered films, and there was no turning back. We wore those tapes OUT over the years.
Side note: Digital content on a VHS??? Hilarious!
From there I only dove in deeper. For Christmas it was light sabers and blasters, and for birthdays it was Star Wars t-shirts, Legos, and action figures. Later, I fell in love with the video games starting with Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and going on to sink tons of time into Battlefront, Jedi Academy, and Knights of the Old Republic.
In all of those things, I was fascinated with the power of the Jedi Knights and the wide scope of knowledge, wisdom, and ability that the masters possessed. Does is get any crazier than reading minds, gazing into the ruture, running like lightning, jumping and flipping around, and moving stuff with your mind?!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
We have something huge to celebrate this year. All of us Star Wars fans have been holding out for a new film for a decade, and our thirst for a new film from Lucas Arts was finally quenched.
(*Queue opening theme and roll intro credits!)
I was so stoked about the release I HAD to go see the movie on opening day. My fiance, my buddies, and I had just marathoned Episodes I-VI to prep ourselves for the ensuing explosion of awesomeness that the new film would surely be. I won’t get into the movie because I don’t want to ruin it for you, but instead, we are going to discuss how YOU can crush Padawan training, become a Jedi Knight with your own Jedi Knight Workout.
How to Train like a Jedi Knight
So what does a Jedi Knight Workout look like?
How can we make our Jedi Knight Workout elevate our ability to use the force?
It astounds me how athletic and powerful the Jedi are, so I thought that I would put together this workout to help you achieve Jedi Knight status while you are working out in the New Year.
“To be strong in the force, train you must.” -Trainer Jack (in Yoda voice)
If you want to know how to workout like a Jedi Knight, we need to master a few different aspects of the force to prepare you for the counsel.
Force Speed (Featured by Obi Wan and Qui-Gon in Episode I): Using the force to reach top speed will demand anaerobic endurance, speed, acceleration, and the ability to change directions quickly.
Force Strength: One of the most alluring aspects of the dark side is “POWER! UNLIMITED POWER!!!” -The Emperor. Whether you are on light side or dark side, you will need a fair amount of strength to succeed in your Jedi Knighthood.
Force Agility (Featured by Luke, Anakin, Obi Wan, Darth Maul, and Yoda): Being a Jedi Knight requires a considerable amount of athleticism. How do you think they can manage all of those flips and spins?
Core Strength: If your core (both body and mind) is not stable and balanced, your ability to use the force will be futile, at best.
