First 3 ungulate designs (although the last one may or may not be a pussy cat in disguise...) for Artstation’s current challenge, ancient civilizations.
The timeline seems extremely tight to me, especially fitting it in around freelance work. Four weeks to come up with 10 unique characters. I’ll spend so much time tinkering with one character that it’s been a really good exercise so far learning how to manage my time efficiently and still come out with a cohesive design.
Found I have a little free time, so I decided to join Artstation’s new challenge on ancient civilizations. I’ve gone with a fictional civilization based loosely on ancient Assyrian and Babylonian designs.
The challenge is to come up with 5 ‘hero’ character and 5 ‘villain’ characters. It’s going to be tough to meet the deadline with my best work, and I may have to find a more simplified rendering style, but I’m enjoying myself greatly nonetheless.
Here are the first 3 characters in lines, the 10 character silhouette lineup, the original silhouette bunch and my reference sheet.
Week 2 stuff, I looked at a lot of favorite geometric robot designs for reference/inspo.

Form Language (Daniel Romanovsky) - Forest Dwelling
2014. Nothing too interesting. Just a few varied grenade silhouettes - and the application of broccoli form language to make something a little cheeky.
