Okay guys i need. Help about how ao3 works. Specifically collections.
Am i allowed to like… make my own collection that only has my works in it? I want to hopefully make a series of fics that are all tied together; not as a chapter fic or anything truly linear but still all part of the same universe/timeline. Collections seems like the go-to for that at a glance but when i was looking at the creation it was all a bunch of like… talking about challenges or being communal? And i saw i can make them closed and moderated but idk if this is the thing im looking for.
I do know ‘parts’ also exist.. or series i guess is the more correct term— but those feel a lot more linearly tied together? I guess, what would be the better/correct choice here? Make a collection only i can contribute to, or make every fic i upload part of the same series?
hi, can i get a tutorial on how to put tags as a link? i wanna do mine for my blogs 😞
sure! i assume you're referring to this sort of thing i do in my masterlist and at the bottom of my posts to point readers toward similar content--

how to make tumblr tags into links
first, and this may go without saying, but make sure you have at least one post on your blog with the tag you intend to link.
first method: desktop (recommended)
1. navigate to your blog on the left-hand sidebar.
2. then, on the other sidebar--right side--select "view blog." you should be seeing your blog the way any other user would, including its custom colors, header image, etc.
3. navigate to the post with the tag you want to turn into a link.
4. go to the post's tags and right-click the one you want (or command-click; whatever it takes to bring up the menu).
5. copy the url from there. the url should look something like "https://www.tumblr.com/[yourblogname]/tagged/[thetagyouwant]." alternatively, left-click the tag and let it take you to the "[...]/tagged/[thetagyouwant]" page itself, then copy that url from your address bar.
6. now, wherever you want to add it (like in a new post), type out the text you want to display--

7. --highlight it, and and use tumblr's hyperlink function to link the "[...]/tagged/[thetagyouwant]" url to that text.
8. click the linked text you made just to be sure. you should end up with something like this:
all my homemade posts
second method: mobile
this method is more roundabout. i haven't found a way to do this solely through the app, so you'll need to use a combination of the tumblr app + your phone's browser.
1. navigate to your blog in the tumblr app .
2. navigate to the post with the tag you want to turn into a link.
3. select the arrow at the bottom of the post to send/open the link in your browser of choice. alternatively, select the meatball menu (•••) in the top-right corner of the post, copy the link, go to your browser of choice, and open that copied url.
4. in your browser, go to the tags of your post and select the one you want.
5. copy the url from there. the url should look something like "https://www.tumblr.com/[yourblogname]/tagged/[thetagyouwant]." alternatively, select the tag and let it take you to the "[...]/tagged/[thetagyouwant]" page itself, then copy that url from your address bar.
6. now, wherever you want to add it (like in a new post), type out the text you want to display--

7. --highlight it, and and use tumblr's hyperlink function to link the "[...]/tagged/[thetagyouwant]" url to that text.
Ok I haven’t been on tumblr in probably 7 or 8 years so idk what I’m doing 😂😭 I want to post my story but I feel overwhelmed with how to format it for here. It’s like 12k words is that too much for one post?
Also I only have like 2 followers right now(which thank you I am actually stoked about u) so I think this will get lost but if you see it and can help even with just a word of encouragement I would appreciate 🙏
Sorry I’m an idiot!!! I don’t understand how I can be on my phone constantly and have no idea how this shit works lmaooo ok thanks for reading
Hey, does anyone know how to make a submission page and turn words into links and stuff? I want to be able to properly take requests, and make my blog better
okay, I can’t find it anywhere. How do I create massively sized text in a tumblr post? using the “big” tag is not working. for example, I want to reply to someone else’s post, but I want my text to be the size of “formatting help” above^^. How do I do that?
if any of you are interested in formatting, here are the SIMPLE tricks to help you out! type a few words out, then highlight them before doing these things!
for this sized font, press ctrl, shift and - ( dash )
for the smallest font, hit ctrl, shift, and -, then ctrl . ( period ) this makes the font small and higher up
for the smallest font, version 2, hit ctrl, shift, -, then ctrl , ( comma ) this makes the font small and lowered
to go back to normal small font, simply press ctrl, shift, and - ( dash ) again after highlighting your text
to go back to completely normal font, press ctrl, shift, and - ( dash ) once more after highlighting text
hope this helps! bold and italics is easy enough, since tumblr already has those ready for you to choose when you highlight text, or you can do the shortcut ctrl and ‘i’ ( italics ), or ctrl and ‘b’ ( bold ).
I have an issue with certain glyphs not displaying, specifically a handful of letters from the ‘regional indicator’ type ( 🇦 🇧 🇨 🇩 🇪 🇫 🇬 🇭 🇮 🇯 🇰 🇱 🇲 🇳 🇴 🇵 🇶 🇷 🇸 🇹 🇺 🇻 🇼 🇽 🇾 🇿 )
After running around the internet for hours trying to find a fix, nothing seems to do it, and I can’t figure out why only certain characters would display and not others (specific characters from other types don’t display either). I was going to use these for some fancy shmancy RP formatting and I need help ; v;
