Battle Map From The Fourth Blight
I have been reminded thanks to this hellsite that Dragon Age the Last Flight exists and now I must off and dive headfirst back into that obsession. I will be back with an unhealthy amount of grey warden worship and general love for Isseya
the wind that stirs their shallow graves carries their song across the sands
heed our words hear our cry the grey are sworn in peace we lie
heed our words hear our cry our names recalled we cannot die
when darkness comes and swallows light heed our words and we shall rise
-- From the Ballad of Ayesleigh, said to have been written after the Battle of Ayesleigh, which ended the Fourth Blight, 5:20 Exalted.

Gace de Chanson
An Orlesian Chevalier who fought and died in the Fourth Blight, he worked closely with Revanelan’s previous incarnation and the Free Marcher Grey Wardens. Having left his country behind in an attempt to put an end to the Blight, he met Revan in the midst of battle, where she wielded both magic and might to ends he could not comprehend and had not seen before. As the war continued, the two grew closer, although never moving beyond friends. In spite of this, he both admired and respected her, and never pushed her boundaries regarding their relationship. He demonstrated a bravery Revanelan had seen in few humans thus far, and although she did not tell him, the feelings were mutual. Unfortunately, Gace died an equally noble death in the battle against the corrupted Andoral; along with the ground troops, he was slaughtered as the Archdemon took the field, sacrificing himself so the Wardens might overcome the beast.
starting 2019 off with a good book
Lathbora Viran. The path to a place of lost love. Longing for a thing that one can never really know. Trying to sketch Grey Warden Isseya, sorry for the low art skill :'(
dark ritual in the Fourth Blight?
So I was reading about the Anderfels today, and discovered that then-Queen Mariwen offered to support the Grey Wardens only if Warden Garahel would agree to sleep with her.
Considering it a small price to pay for such tremendous support, Garahel’s own lover asked that he agree to it.
It’s easy to kind of laugh and say Queen Mariwen must have had a powerful Thirst for elven booty...but what if she was a secret mage?
We know Flemeth has been around since the Towers Age, so that gives her and Mythal roughly 200 hears to sort out the details of the Dark Ritual. It stands to reason she would have had a vested interest in saving Andoral during the Fourth Blight. Could Mariwen have been one of her daughters, or otherwise one of Flemeth’s allies?
Of course, when I read that Garahel was killed defeating the Archdemon, I assumed my theory was crap. But then some really suspicious details emerge!
According to Grey Warden Prosper, when the Archdemon was defeated, Garahel’s body wasn’t immediately recovered because the dragon’s death throes threw him to the far side of the battlefield.
Could it be possible that he survived slaying the Archdemon only to be killed by the impact of his fall (or of other injuries)?
To the Grey Wardens, and to history, there would have been nothing extraordinary about Garahel’s death. And if Mariwen went on to have a bastard elfblooded child, no one would have cared since her late-husband had already provided a legitimate heir.
I haven’t read Last Flight, so I’m wondering if anyone out there might have noticed any suspicious details in Mariwen’s characterization or in the details of Garahel’s death? Do we know what happened to Mariwen after the blight?
OH GODS I AM DYING TO KNOW MORE

“A Warden,” [Lidia] breathed, starting at [Tenant’s] jaw and following a soft kiss with a bite- earning a groan. “Always,” moving down the curve of his neck she kissed gently, lips lingering for a moment before teeth tugged at the skin. “Keeps her,” she bit hard in the hollow of his throat, earning a hiss of an inhale as his fingers gripped tighter. “Promises,” she finished with another bite, pulling back enough to see heat flush his cheeks. “A certain one might find herself in trouble if she doesn't watch herself,” he laughed, the sound harsh. “Is that a threat?” She pursed her lips, a grin quickly splitting them, “Or a promise?”
