I’ve been meaning to make a sequel to this post (https://www.tumblr.com/jvanrynart/784525607821279232/idk-where-this-came-from-tbh-just-felt-like) for a while now, and finally had the motivation to actually sit down and draw it lol.
The CEO of this account does not accept canon deaths, sorry
Riyo Chuchi is growing increasingly uneasy under the Empire. She’s spoken out one too many times, and her work with the clone underground feels dangerously close to exposure. The galaxy is darker now, lonelier. She’s lost so much, including the man she loved.
She never expected him to reappear or that he’d be sent to kill her.

Summary:
In the canon timeline, Fox refused to leave Coruscant with Hound, returning to the Jedi Temple in the hopes of potentially freeing some of their brothers. Unfortunately for him, Vader snaps his neck before he has the chance. In this world, however, he makes a different decision and decides to escape with his brother and the gaggle of Jedi younglings they've managed to snatch up. It's lucky for them that another brother, Alpha-17, is in a very similar predicament to them. Together, they must learn how to adapt to this new world post-Order 66 and all the faces, new and familiar, that come with it.
A follow-up to Day 3: Time Travel. Fox wakes up to find things vastly different from how he left them, but surprisingly not worse. @loving-fox-hours
The Morning After
Waking up happened in bits and pieces. Sometimes he was aware of voices. Sometimes he felt someone holding his hand or touching his brow. Once he was sure he heard a butterfly flapping its wings, though that couldn't have been right.
Eventually he became aware of a smell. Bacta, he knew. And antiseptic. But there was something almost spicy, too, that helped reduce the unpleasantness of the other smells.
Once aware of scents he noticed he was in a room. Soft blue walls. A window with an unfamiliar view of the city. Lighting that was warm rather than harsh. A table held an arrangement of flowers. He recognized fire lilies in the mix, which explained the spicy smell.
Not the Guard's barely-existent medroom. Not Coruscant General. Definitely somewhere medical. He tried sifting through his memories, but they were a muddle. Black plastoid. An open window. The walls of a lift. Bodies everywhere. Fire. His desk. A purple lightsaber.
The door hissed open and a Rutian twi'lek in medical whites stepped into the room.
"Don't get up," she commanded before he could so much as twitch. "How are you feeling, Commander?"
"What happened?" He asked instead of answering.
She walked over and laid a hand across his brow. The all-over tingling he hadn't really noticed faded in a wash of cool. Tension he hadn't realized he'd been carrying went out of his shoulders.
"I'm Master Healer Vokara Che," she said. "You were brought into my care at the Temple after a confrontation in Chan- former Chancellor Palpatine's office."
Fox vaguely recalled a head flying into nothingness.
"You were suffering from complications due to sustained electrocution," Healer Che continued. "So if your memories are confused or you have blank spots, don't worry. It'll likely sort itself out once you've finished recovering."
Electrocution. Yes. Lightning from- from whatever. Former Chancellor?
"Palpatine is dead," Che confirmed as if he'd spoken. "Executed for treason against the Republic, crimes against sentients, and probably other things we'll uncover as the investigation continues." She poured him a glass of water and helped him sit up to drink it. "Being a Sith Lord might not be against Republic law, but it is against the Jedi Code."
It was a good thing she'd waited for him to finish his sip or he might have choked. The smile she leveled at him was sharp.
"Speaking of which, you have our thanks for helping to eliminate that particular threat."
More pieces were falling into place, but some of them still had a dreamlike quality.
"The Temple... is okay?"
Bodies littering hallways. Children screaming.
"Yes." Che's smile was softer this time. "The Temple is safe and so are you, Fox."
There was a tap at the door and it opened to reveal High General Windu.
Che's expression hardened before she whirled to face him.
"Out," she commanded, pointing at the door.
"Master Che," General Windu started. "I know you take the wellbeing of your patients seriously, but-"
"Out," she repeated, advancing toward him.
"If I could just ask the Commander a few questions-" Windu dared to step forward.
"Mace Nicholas Windu, if you aren't out of this room in five seconds..."
Fox watched, stunned, as High General Windu, Master of the Jedi Order, retreated, backing towards the door. He paused there to bow at Fox.
"My apologies, Commander," Windu said. "May the Force speed your recovery." He flicked a glance at Che before stepping out the door. She hit the control so fast Fox was surprised the door didn't smack him in the nose. Maybe there was something to be said for Jedi reflexes after all.
When she turned to face him again it was like confronting a sunbeam; all warmth and goodness. Fox blinked.
"Don't worry about him," Che said. "The Council can wait. You rest up and let your mind and body finish recovering."
"Uh," Fox said, and then another missing piece slammed into place. "The Guard!"
He struggled to sit up, but a gentle pressure held him down.
"The Guard! They're on lockdown! I have to-"
"The Guard is fine," Che said. "Master Windu saw to them as soon as he'd taken care of you and the others." She chuckled. "In fact, I believe some of them are waiting to see you as well. They just have better manners than a certain Council member."
Fox relaxed at that, but his mind was still whirling. He remembered firing his blaster.
"I shot-"
"Yes," Che said. "Former Master Skywalker was about to betray his vows and attack Master Windu, so it's a very good thing you shot him first."
He'd shot Skywalker?! He'd never particularly liked the man, but- wait.
"Attack General Windu?" He repeated.
Che's lekku twitched. "You'll have to ask him for more detail, but from what I understand, young Skywalker was preparing to join Palpatine in overthrowing the Republic until you stepped in and killed him." She touched his brow. "You have our thanks for that."
He'd killed Skywalker. Holy shit. And he was being thanked for it. That was... that was too much to process, so he set it aside for later.
"Kit- Master Fisto is in bacta and there's every hope he should make a recovery," Che continued as if she hadn't just dropped a thermal detonator. "Master Kolar is beginning to stabilize but isn't in the clear yet, and Master Tiin unfortunately succumbed to his injury before help could arrive."
She sighed and Fox bowed his head in acknowledgement. He hadn't even noticed anyone else was in the room, but hopefully the survivors would recover.
"Now I suggest you get some sleep," Che said, waving a hand to dim the lights. "I can only delay the Council for so long and I imagine you're going to be very busy once you wake up and your head is clear."
Fox opened his mouth to protest and was mortified when he yawned instead. He'd just woken up! How could he be exhausted already?
"Don't worry, Fox," Che said, brushing her hand against his. "You're safe here. I'll make sure of it."
Against his better judgement he fell asleep again and awoke to a warm, heavy weight. Something soft brushed against his chin and when he cracked his eyes open he saw he'd been covered by The Blanket. Thire was in a chair next to the bed, his head cushioned on Fox's chest. Hound was sprawled in a chair on the other side of the room, hugging Grizzer. All three of them were asleep.
Another weight shifted against his shins and he tilted his head to look down. A small white cat with smudged ears stared back at him.
"Paperwork," he said, as the cat stretched and sauntered its way up his stomach and past the sleeping Thire. He could hear her purring even over Grizzer and Hound's snores.
Paperwork mashed her head against his face and draped herself across his neck, purring directly into his ear.
Fox chuckled. "Missed you, too." He reached up, glad to see his hand was steady as he scritched her head. Che was right; he was safe here, and more than that he might be loved. Maybe, just once, everything was going to turn out right.
