Fox Bros BBQ, Atlanta, GA

Making a return visit to Fox Bros was definitely one of my main reasons for going to Atlanta. I found their brisket probably the best that I have ever had when I was there more than 6 years ago. But with time, I wondered if I was glorifying the restaurant for whatever reason. Now I would get to find out, with a return visit, if they were as outstanding as I had remembered!! I had rented a car for the day to see a friend so I decided to keep it for the evening to drive down to Fox Bros. From where I was staying in Buckhead, it wasnt the easiest place to get to by public transport. Even from Downtown, it is a bit of a hike once you are off of the Marta. But that wouldn't stop me from going there for some amazing brisket!! As I drove up, the parking lot was packed with a few other cars looking for spots. I drove a bit further and got a spot on the street and walked back. It was about 730pm, so prime dinner hour. I was not at all surprised that the place was so busy. What did surprise me, happily, was that there was a single seat at the small bar so I could sit down right away and place my order. The young lady who was bartending was very busy but she quickly made eye contact and said hello. Despite how busy she was, she was not only friendly but also very efficient! She put my order in as well as a new gentleman next to me while pouring beers for the rest the dining room. She was young but she was a pro, great at her job!! I had forgotten how quickly they get the food out of the kitchen! In less than 10 minutes, I had my wet brisket sandwich, baked beans as well as a side of fried brussels with goat cheese. For me the sides are just window dressing for the brisket, which is why I go there. But the window dressing is also quite tasty, brussels with a little crunch and then the creaminess of the goat cheese. Baked beans are simple, a little sweet so I cut them with some house made spicy BBQ sauce. Their wet brisket is so moist, fatty amd flavorful that it really doesn't even need any sauce. I just happen to prefer it spicier so I will add some the spicy BBQ sauce to the meat as well. No need for a knife as its fork tender and melts in your mouth. Indeed, the brisket, as well as the sides, were just as delicious as I had remembered!! So much so that I ordered amd extra half pound of meat to enjoy at my hotel room for either later in the evening or even the next day!! I am happy to say that Fox Bros BBQ is still as good as it was 6 years ago and I'm gueasing it will be just as good in another 6 years. I just hope it isn't that long before I get to have it again!! Even though it isn't particularly in a convenient location, Fox Bros is absolutely a must stop for any food lover, even more so if you are a BBQ connoisseur!! Rent a car, take the Marta or an Uber but make sure Fox Bros is on your short list of places to eat the next time you are in the Atlanta area!! Have a great day!!
