What if Abby Langdon is an only child, spoiled to heavens by her rich parents and always expected Frank to have the same singular focus on her but he never could measure up to it. Not even in a mean way, but she was raised with very high expectations. Only the best for their little girl Abigail. Frank loves being needed, loves to pamper, but somehow he was never enough, she always wanted more than he could provide, be it attention, materials, etc. Or worse: he could, for a while, and the high of being enough for her made their marriage last this long, until he fell from grace.

Can you imagine his shock at befriending Mel King, queen of always putting herself on the backburner, always expecting the bare minimum of people and somehow not really being disappointed when she doesn't get it, because it is so frequent? Expressing never feeling let down by him even when he royally fucked up everything, looking at him like the bare act of him /listening/ to her is the greatest gift she ever received?

That man would get OBSSESSED!!

i’m musing about a kingdon au where mel is frank and abby’s marriage counselor and him and mel cheat with each other whilst mel is singlehandedly trying to save his marriage… abby is so happy to have found a marriage counselor that actually listens to her and is making real progress with them. she even leaves early so frank can talk to her about his own problems without fear of judgment. she doesn’t even take notice of the faint bite marks on his neck when she kisses his cheek goodbye :(
