Thoughts after the trailer:
Sage with the Boys, Frenchie in the background wearing goggles and working on something while she casually performs a lobotomy on herself.
Thinking back to episode five, where Butcher rolls in with a whole cart of random equipment and tells MM it’s for a project between him and Frenchie — could they actually be trying to build some kind of weapon?
My guess is they might be attempting to recreate Soldier Boy’s ability somehow. Maybe some kind of device that burns the V out of supes. There has to be a reason Sage ends up helping them, and this would make a lot of sense.
Also, in the group shots with the Boys together, Frenchie is noticeably absent.
And considering the episode title, I’m honestly praying to every god out there this isn’t where it’s going, but it really feels like the episode is going to revolve around the three of them — and someone dies.
Probably Frenchie.
Especially because the show has been quietly setting him up for a “redemption death” for a while now. Most of his arc lately has been about guilt, atonement, trying to become someone better. And in The Boys, that kind of emotional closure usually means a character is approaching the end of their story.
Hughie also says something along the lines of “we lost.” Maybe he means it because Homelander took V1, but honestly, it could just as easily be him reacting to Frenchie’s death.
Frenchie handled like 99% of their chemical and technical experiments. Without him, their chances of winning drop dramatically.
You know what’s funny about this scene? Hughie never mentioned that he’s straight or not interested in men. He simply just said: another time, dude!
