Drew the Frankenstein Monster in my sketchbook. Not based directly on any specific version—though I do plan a separate digital piece later that’ll aim for full book accuracy (I’ve honestly never seen a truly book-accurate Creature in art before). This one’s more about the general cultural conception of the Creature… filtered through my own brain and hand.
Niemand anderer als Frankenstein´s Creature steigt in die Hallen der Figura Obscura Actionfiguren auf.

Young Frankenstein
I love this movie, but not just because it’s absolutely hilarious. It’s because this is like the ideal of what could have and should have happened in the book. In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Mr. Frankenstein is a jerk who runs out on his creation, leaving him to discover the horrors of the world alone, being shunned and hated and maimed because of his appearance despite his good intentions. It ends up turning the creature into a monster bit by bit, until finally he kills himself after his creator is dead.
In Young Frankenstein, the creature begins angry and “Abby normal” because of the brain mistake, yet he is still a good creature. He plays with the little girl in a wholesome manner, and then he sits with the blind man after being scalded by soup and denied wine. Even when the blind man burns him, he just runs out screaming, not hurting the man in anyway. Then Frankenstein finally shows the creature love, calling him beautiful and wonderful and accepting his role as the father/teacher for this creature that he created (unlike the original frankenstein who just fainted a lot and moaned about the creature he made). He puts on a show and loves the creature despite his flaws, and even when the show fails spectacularly, Frankenstein keeps fighting for the creature. Eventually, Frankenstein gives a part of his own intelligence, knowledge, and humanity to the creature, taking some of the creature’s madness in return (which granted, has sexy results for him, so it ended up working out). He gave all he could to the creature, and this made the towns people realize the creature’s humanity. Young Frankenstein is like the happy remake of the book, both in terms of the jokes and in terms of the happy ending that the creature deserves.
