New Earth Extended Scene: Ward 26

Another scene involving Frau Clovis and the Duke of Manhattan, which had to be massively shortened due to production overrunning. Both characters were originally due to appear when the Doctor and Rose first arrived in the hospital lobby, but had to be reworked into a later scene when the Doctor meets the Face of Boe in Ward 26.

The scaled-down TV version of Cassandra/Rose reuniting with the Doctor is a relatively straightforward sequence; consisting of her walking into Ward 26, the Doctor showing her the various patients and then noticing her accent right before she kisses him. This deleted opening has more the makings of a farce, with the Doctor being too distracted or preoccupied by the medicines to notice Rose's bad behavior:

That "moisturize me" champagne gag needs a fanart. ASAP. That, or Cassandra/Rose flirting with the Duke of Manhattan.

Is Frau Clovis jealous? Or just overprotective? 🤔

Cassandra/Rose notes the Duke's "nice winch" and the Duke says "winch me up", like he did in his previous scene with the Doctor after being cured, thereby calling further attention to the massively important winch that will be a part of the zip-line action sequence at the story's climax.

The Doctor meets the Duke of Manhattan in Ward 26, who is suffering from incurable Petrifold Regression, and his bureaucratic, disclaimer-obsessed assistant Frau Clovis, whom he both originally met in the foyer in the original script, before many of their scenes were truncated in the final edit.

Actor Michael Fitzgerald, who portrays the Duke (you might recognize him as Laura Linney's brother in Love Actually!), wore prosthetics and a fat suit for the role, which had its own special cooling system to prevent him overheating.
