One thing I wish Jackson and Holt’s storyline would’ve had (outside of wishing it existed for longer than one Volume and a movie) is leaning more into the idea of them being two halves if one person, instead of two different people.

Honestly the biggest drawback of their character was that they never actually interacted through video or notes, so the actual struggle they were going through felt kind of clumsy. Obviously I don’t mean the same person as in Holt being evil and Jackson being Good like the original Jekyll and Hyde, but more of a ‘Right brain Left brain’ kind of thing.

I wish more than anything they had been in the Freaky Fusion movie. Not only cause… duh. But the idea of them actually being split into two people, only to realise their lives are actually better with each other would’ve been such a satisfying arc for them. (In place of the whole time travel storyline, which definitely should’ve been its own movie).

Jackson is the strictly logical side, Holt is the impulsive side and they need each other to work properly.

Also the fact that the whole Hybrid thing was a metaphor for being mixed race, and Ghouls Rule was literally about Jackson and Holt not fitting into either of their cultures. Monster High really dropped the ball on that one.

Edit: while I have you I kind of wish they’d shown Jackson and Holt be able to hear each other when one’s fronting. Like Jackson’s in class and you just see a disembodied Holt whining about the teacher next to him, that only the audience can see

can’t believe ive never seen a single person talk about that one time monster high had frankie talk about how they don’t know if any of their feelings are real or if they’re even alive at all. If they’re just a collection of parts, if they ever even had that “spark” that made them alive or if they’re just a machine tricked into having the illusion of consciousness. literally just talking to a fucking zombie unicorn guy about how they don’t feel real

IN THE SAME MOVIE where frankie felt isolated from their peers because all of them have their long family lines and proudly represent their heritage (or scaritage) and frankie doesn’t know anything about theirs because their parents will NOT talk about their grandfather or any of the frankensteins (also crazy dark implications if you’ve read frankenstein). where frankie lives in a world where everyone around them has thousands of years of history and they were just…built some day

Monster high Freaky Fusion except the fusion machine was created by Jackson. He’s sick and tired of people bullying and looking down on him for being part normie.

Holt belongs here, but Jackson never will. He can’t go to the normie world because it’ll put Holt in danger. So he’s decided to do himself and Holt a favour in separating them both.

Much like his great grandfather, Henry Jekyll tried long ago. It’s his research Jackson’s using and while Holt is supportive, imagining all the parties he can throw and fun he can have.

He’s not as jazzed about this as Jackson is.

“You’ll finally be without me, free to do whatever you want. Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted?”

“Yeah but…it didn’t go so well for gramps did it?”

Unfortunately Manny decided to ruin Jackson’s hard work causing the machine to malfunction and misfire.

Turning several monster high students into hybrids. Jackson and Holt teach them how to cope with their new situation, and in doing so become closer.

Everyone sees what life is like for Jackson and realises how poorly they’ve been treating for him.

Jackson learns from his great grandfathers mistakes, embraces his mixed heritage and finally gets the love he deserves.

They throw a party, one with Jackson friendly music so he can join in this time. It was Holt and Heaths idea.

With Cupids new doll on the horizon I thought I would revisit this Cupid x Kiyomi Freaky Fusion from a couple years ago 👻💘 Cupidomi? Kiyupid?

I wasn’t happy with how I had designed her at the time but I think this one’s a lot closer to what I envisioned. I guess g3 Cupid having the plastic cage bits helped pull this one together lol

I love it when adaptations of Frankenstein allow the creator and the creation to reconcile with each other - where the creator recognizes his faults, the creation becomes at peace with their existence, and both realize they were the family and love/affection they were seeking the whole time… just before it’s too late.

Although MH and GDT’s film feature very different depictions of Victor and the Monster, I still can’t help but compare the two - specifically how both convey the message that life should not be created without respecting the existence of life, death, and the individual.

Both Victors did not stop to think of what would come with their acts of creation, and their creations are left to bear the weight of the consequences.

But yeah, I love Frankenstein 2025, I love Monster High, and I love that everyone is making fan art of the Creature being the best dad to Frankie Stein 💚
