Chubby Fred Applegate was busiest on TV in the 1980s & 1990s. His first TV appearance was on an episode of Remington Steele in 1984. He made 15 appearances in Newhart in seasons 4 and 5 as the sarcastic director of fictitious local program Vermont Today, hosted by Bob Newhart’s Dick Louden. He made 13 appearances in season 5 of Nine to Five as one of the bosses. He made several appearances in Night Court & Growing Pains. And was a regular in 3 failed sitcoms, FM in 1989 with Robert Hays and Patricia Richardson, Woops! in 1992 and Life...And Stuff with Pam Dawber in 1997. Since then he has mostly appeared in Theatre.
