Herb Jeffries brushes up on his French with Lena Horne (?)
(Gordon Parks. 1950)
you are a language I am no longer fluent in but i still remember how to read -Ashe Vernon, from “Skeleton Song”, Wrong Side of a Fistfight
My huge French dictionary arrived today, it’s been a total hassle getting this, they sent me the wrong book, took it to store, they couldn’t exchange it in store because the online price was different to in store, so they reordered it for me, finally arrived a week after I originally ordered. It’s really big and has a dust jacket, I don’t know why but a dictionary with a dust jacket is amusing for me. The pages are also so thin it’s like bible pages, I love the way the pages feel (I’m autistic and paper texture is important to me as sometimes I can’t touch paper if the texture upsets me) so I’m going to be quite happy to use this.
But yeah I can’t wait to figure out how to fit this on my dictionary.
My first L2 love: French. The dictionary that got me through high school and college. Le pauvre: it’s lost part of its cover and been doused with coffee once or twice.
