Crab Hushpuppies are a delightful twist on the classic Southern snack. These savory fritters are packed with succulent crabmeat, giving them a rich flavor and tender texture. Perfect for parties or as a tasty appetizer.
Ingredients: 1 cup crabmeat, cooked and shredded. 1 cup cornmeal. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour. 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped. 1/4 cup buttermilk. 1 egg, beaten. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Vegetable oil for frying.
Instructions: Put the cornmeal, flour, green onions, buttermilk, beaten egg, baking powder, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Mix everything together well. In a deep fryer or pot with a heavy bottom, heat the vegetable oil to 350F 175C. Make sure not to crowd the fryer as you drop spoonfuls of the crab mixture into the hot oil. Fry the hushpuppies for two to three minutes, or until they are fully cooked and golden brown. Take the hushpuppies out of the oil and leave them to drain on paper towels. Serve hot with the sauce of your choice.
