the air around you was slightly chilly, but the bed was warm. the tapping sounds of the rain hitting the wind seal made you feel like you were floating. but the sounds of her slowly breathing just below your head made you soar. your brain was losing itself in the sensation of seoyeon's head resting heavily on your chest, tying you down to reality and the soft mattress underneath you.
the scent of her sweet shampoo filled up your every thought and made it impossible to move. because there was no way you would risk waking your girlfriend up, especially when she was sleeping more peacefully than sleeping beauty herself. all you could do was close your eyes, and let everything go. everything but her.
the rain kept falling outside, and the pita-pats it made when reaching the windows were like white noise; drowning out all the thoughts trying to take over your brain, telling you that you have to get up and go.
it was a Wednesday morning, and of course, you knew you had to go to work. goddamn work. you wished for nothing more than being able to just stay here, in the fluffiest bed you had ever felt, with seoyeon cuddling up to your side like a freaking panda. there was absolutely nothing you could want or need, more, than just staying right here. taking in every minute that you had to spare.
you looked over at the clock on the wall in the kitchen, visible through the large doors leading from your bedroom to the small kitchen at the other end of your apartment. you sighed deeply as you saw that the time when you would be late no matter what you did was approaching. the deep sigh accidentally you let out, roused seoyeon awake. she raised her head from your chest, only to place it back down and rest her chin on you instead.
"time?" she asked with a raspy voice as she looked up at you with heavy eyes.
you couldn't help but smile, as you responded with "almost seven-thirty."
she groaned a bit at the terrible news, and chose to instead nestle her face into you as she closed her eyes.
"five more minutes?" she said. her voice muffled as she spoke into your chest.
this proposition was definitely preferable, so instead of disappointing her and forcing yourself out of bed and getting up to face the cold morning air, you nodded and hummed as you pulled her even closer to you. flinging both arms and legs around her body; wrapping her up like a cozy little seoyeon-morning-burrito. you could feel how she smiled against your chest, but when she raised her head to look at you, she tried to look as unbothered as humanly possible. this wasn't the first time, nor the last time, that seoyeon tried to play off how much she actually loved the attention you always showered her with. it was so freaking cute.
bending down, you gave her a feather-light kiss on her forehead and smiled adoringly at her as you pulled back. she couldn't fight it any longer and her face cracked up into a bright smile and she laughed a hoarse but radiant laugh.
static pulses shocked through your body as you felt your heartbeat quickening at her response to your affection. oh god, you loved that laugh. however, seoyeon wasn’t prepared for her emotions to slip up so easily, and pressed her face into your chest once again, feeling her cheeks get hotter because of the embarrassment.
even though you missed her face when she hid in your oversized hoodie, there was no denying that just existing this way, fingers gliding over each other's backs and waists in a comforting and effortless way, made it feel like time had stopped. the small kisses you placed on the top of seoyeon’s head and the constant waves of static energy you felt every time you felt her breath on you, were almost enough to make you completely forget about your responsibilities. sadly you did realize, that the time had in fact not actually stopped and twenty minutes had already passed. you were officially late. you closed your eyes, trying to avoid the stress that washed over you.
seoyeon had been close to falling back asleep but had woken up yet again to you turning and sighing when reality hit you for the second time that morning. with a sleep-hazed brain, all seoyeon could think was that you needed to stay with her, you were warm and soft compared to the air she could feel on the parts of her body outside of the covers, and she wanted you to stay. so, instead of letting you go, she pulled her arms out from inside the burrito wrap that was you around her and placed them around your waist. reaching for your neck, she scootched up a bit and nestled into the crook of it.
you could feel your laughter bubbling up through your throat, as she began giving you feather-light kisses of her own all over your neck. feeling her lips sweeping over your skin you just couldn't help it since you were annoyingly ticklish. but you didn’t want her to stop, you never ever wanted her to stop. instead, you pulled her further into your embrace, if that's even possible since you were basically one big mass, tangled up in each other, and sinking deeper into each other's warmth.
"you don’t want me to leave either, do you?" you questioned, already knowing the answer.
she pulled back from your neck and shook her head "no, please stay, you're warm."
you smiled at her reasoning and placed your forehead on hers. her eyes sparkled with satisfaction as you whispered "I am sure that work will understand, nobody could ever argue with me about staying home for you, especially if you're cold."
chuckling slightly at your naive conviction, she closed her eyes and you followed her lead and closed yours right thereafter. and no, no work would or even could be done on this rainy wednesday morning when your seoyeon was cuddled up in your arms.

“y/n push harder!” she squealed and giggled as you pushed a little harder. “is it my turn yet?” you huffed as she giggled. “i guessss” she got off the single swing at the park across the street from her friends house. he grinned as he got on the swing and jiheon started to push carefully as a grin spread across his face. “jiheon! y/n! do you want some ice cream?” her face lit up as you smiled and nodded over at your mother, jumping off the swing, falling over in the woodchips. his mom walked over and sighed. “be careful y/n,” she wiped off the woodchips sticking to your clothes then took your hand and jiheon’s as you all crossed the street into his house. the two of you giggled as there was ice cream all over your face. his mom giggled as you finished up your cup of ice cream and jiheon finished hers. both of you running to the gaming system to play games for hours. you and jiheon heard a familiar voice and jiheon gasped. “it’s my mom, hide!” you both giggled and hide in the corner of the living room with the blanket over the two of you, giggling and shushing each other in between giggles.
Jiheon groaned as she rolled over in her bed, she stared up at the new ceiling, looking around at the new room and looking at everything. she looked at the bright walls and sighed, the color was definitely not her first pick...or any pick of hers at all. for the past few days she was getting adjusted to the new house, back in her hometown. she felt anxious to be back and see people from elementary school, none of them know exactly what happened and when she moved. Jiheon sighed as her mom knocked on the door. “come on, we need to be out the door in fifteen minutes.” Jiheon stood up and walked to her closet “okay mom,” she picked out a pair of ripped jeans and a simple shirt as she got ready. The drive to school was agonizingly long as anticipation built up. Her mom pulled up to the door and she got out. “bye Jiheon! have a great day!” her mom smiled as she nodded. “thank you mom!” she walked in and looked around, she played a scene in her head of a movie thinking that’s how this was going to play out.
Contradictory to the thoughts in her head no one looked at her or cared, she walked around looked for her home room and took a breath. she repeated the number in her head over and over. “C246, C246, C24-“ she stopped thinking as she looked up at the figure she ran into. “oh i’m sorry,” she looked up at you, not even recognizing you from when you were kids. she went on her way as you called out “Jiheon!” she turned around and looked over at you. “huh?” you ran up and hugged her as she squinted, realizing she recognized the hug. “y-y/n?” she grinned and hugged you back as you smiled. “how have you been?” she smiled up at you as you both let go. “good, i’ve missed you so much,” she blushed as you spoke. “i’ve missed you too, y/n,” she smiled as you smiled “same home room?” he looked at her as she looked up at you “C246?” you both asked in unison and smiled as you walked together. “sooo y/n, should we hang out at the park later?” she smiled up you as he nodded quickly. “most definitely,i’ll need your number though,” she grinned as he gave it to her right away. parted ways after homeroom, sadly you two didn’t have classes together.
She smiled as her mom met her at the end of the day and she got in the car. Her mom smiled at her. “how was it?” Jiheon blushed softly as she thought about you, remembering your soft and handsome features. “really good,” she nodded and smiled. “meet anyone?” her mom asked, just to fill the silence in the car. She shook her head. “remember y/n?” her mom nodded. “of course, what about him?” Jiheon smiled a little. “he’s at my school, is that okay if i hang out with him tonight? y’know, to catch up,” her mom nodded. “sure, it’s been a while,” Jiheon smiled, “thank you,” her mom nodded as they pulled in the driveway and Jiheon ran on to put her things away. she went to text him until she got a text first. “i’m on my way to pick you up now :)” she smiled “yayy!! i’ll see you then!!”
Jiheon grinned as she heard a horn beep and opened the door as you walked in. “hi mrs. baek,” you smiled and gave her a hug as she hugged you back. “it’s so good to see you y/n, how have you been?” you smiled as they had some small talk and she watched. they ended shortly as she smiled and walked out to the car with you. you smiled and put on old songs that you used to dance around too as she giggled and smiled at you. “i’ve missed this,” you nodded at her. “it’s so nice to see you again,” he parked and smiled as you both got out and ran to the swings like you did when you were kids. The two of you hopped onto the swings and smiled. “sooo, any relationships?” Jiheon started as she asked you. you shook your head as she looked at you with a furrowed brow. “but how, you’re perfect and anyone is lucky to have you!” You blushed, “it’s not like i wasn’t asked out,” she raised an eyebrow as you took a deep breath. “i’ve been waiting for you jiheon, somehow, someway i knew you’d come back into my life. you truly are the only girl for me, it might be too bold or too soon but i’d like to be your boyfriend,” you sat on the swing with your feet dragging as you stared down. Jiheon got off the swing carefully and kissed the top of your head. “i’ve known you for a huge part of my life and i think i’d love to be in a relationship with you.”

“I got some popsicles, and then also some more honey, just in case we run out,” she said, holding the wrapped-up ice cream bar in her hand. you reached out for it and tried to heave yourself off of the couch. the small excursion making your lungs let out a loud cough that you tried to cover with your arm.
you squeezed out a low “thank you,” in between your coughs. saerom looked at you with pain in her eyes. she knew it was a simple cold, of course she knew that, and there was really no need to worry. but she couldn’t help it. you looked so helpless, laying on the couch, with tired eyes and lips that had become slightly chapped as you were now on your second day of getting through this goddamn cold.
usually, you weren’t the one catching the really bad colds. most of the time they just passed you by like a small inconvenience. saerom, on the other hand, was the opposite. colds hit her every few months, and they hit her hard. as in bedridden for at least five entire days, with shivers and throats so sore she could barely swallow. this time it was your turn.
“do you need anything else? are you warm enough? do you think the fever has gone down? are you too hot? how are you feeling?” she was frantic as she scanned your body language for any hint of how you might be feeling.
you had begun unwrapping the popsicle and was much more focused on soothing your sore throat, and didn’t even register her myriad of questions.
saerom knew how you were feeling, she had been through bad colds herself enough times to know that you had other things to deal with just within your own body. what she didn’t know was what she was supposed to do when you were the one looking close to death, sniffling on the couch, and burning up from within.
you had learned how to make sure she got enough fluids and food in her, even when she could barely sit upright without feeling dizzy enough that you could see her head spinning from the way she grabbed at her surroundings to somehow stabilize her brain. you knew what flavor of cough medicine she liked the best. you had figured out the best way to make sure her fever never stayed for too long, and that it went down properly so that she could sleep through the nights (and days). to sum it up, you had received your fair share of nurse practice. saerom however, had no idea what she was doing. you were never sick, so why would she have had to learn to do any of the things one does when their partner is sick? needless to say, she was freaking out.
with a trembling voice, she asked “can I do anything for you?”
the fever had risen so much that your entire brain felt like mush, and all you could think of asking for was “just… hold me,” it came out as a pleading and strained whisper but she understood the feeling.
she tried to remember what you had done for her last time she was sick like this. once she remembered, she moved further into the couch, sitting just beside the pillow propping your head up. slowly removing the pillows from underneath you, while shushing you as calmly as she could muster without letting the way your whimpers got to her show through her own voice.
after placing a smaller pillow on her lap to make sure you wouldn’t get hotter from her own body heat, she hoisted you up a bit, laying your head in her lap. you couldn’t open your eyes because of the spinning and when you felt her hand touch down on the side of your face, your breath hitched in surprise.
her hand was cold and soft. it was exactly what you needed. feeling her slowly letting her hand rest on your forehead, only to move down the side of your face and cup your cheek and then down your neck. her hand cooling you down felt so incredibly good.
when she for a second lifted her hand from your burning skin you couldn’t help but shuffle and whisper a low “no”.
flipping and switching hands once the one she was using got too warm, she stayed there, caressing your face until she could feel the tense muscles in your forehead relax from the soothing feeling of her chilly hands.
all she wanted was for you to feel better, for her to be able to help, and when you finally felt some relief she was over the moon. you eventually fell asleep, with your head resting on her lap and her hand letting you let go of the spinning motions that occupied your head.
