"You're too close, kangaroo..."
Spring's Chill
(Jackfrost x Bunnymund)
Jack Frost perched on a tree branch, idly twirling his staff as he watched Bunnymund work below. The Pooka was knee-deep in fresh soil, tending to the first blooms of spring with practiced ease. The sight was mesmerizing—the way his powerful hands moved so gently, coaxing life from the ground.
Jack smirked. Too serious, as always.
With a flick of his wrist, a fine dusting of frost trailed over the petals of the nearest flower, making it shimmer under the morning light. Bunnymund stiffened, ears flicking back before he turned a sharp glare upward.
"Frostbite," he growled, brushing a paw over the now-glittering petals. "Ya know spring don’t mix well with winter."
Jack grinned, leaning lazily on his staff. "Looks better this way, don’t you think?"
Bunny sighed, rubbing his temples before shaking his head with a fond chuckle. "Yer impossible, mate."
Jack landed beside him, nudging his shoulder playfully. "And yet, you keep me around."
Bunnymund huffed, but there was no real annoyance in it. Instead, he reached out, brushing a stray snowflake from Jack’s cheek.
"Yeah, guess I do."
Jack's breath hitched for just a moment before he laughed, covering up the warmth blooming in his chest. Spring and winter weren’t supposed to mix—but somehow, with Bunny, it didn’t seem so bad.
Don't play with your food.
It was too hot in the ballroom. Too. bloody. hot.
Seriously... How could it be this stuffy in the North Pole? Aster pulled and tugged at his bow tie, his ears twitching against his back. The annual ball that Tooth hosted at her husbands workshop was crowded and loud, and Aster felt his antisocial demeanor twisting as he crowded closer to the wall.
He felt sweat sticking to his fancy.dress clothes, hand tailored by other spring faeries to fit his pooka form. It was suffocating him, these clothes, and the thoughts pooling in him. He could see Jack from where he was; could see his freshly pressed suit hugging his too thin frame. Aster couldn't help looking, enjoyed looking, really, and didn't regret it in the slightest.
Jack looked good.
Really good.
And the bulge in his pants.was proof that he enjoyed that, too.
Thus it being too hot in Winters core. Bloody tie....
Jack cast his gaze onto the Pooka, his lips falling into an easy smirk. His body language said it all, and his hungry eyes only solidified it... Jack knew. And he was playing with the Pooka.
Naps and Deals
"Its been a few Easters since I've seen the little bugger." Bunny pointed out, lounging next to North as he scribbled something on a scroll. "He hasn't been snowing out my Easters."
North grunted. "Maybe he has grown respect for you, no?"
Bunny snorted. "Frostbite? Nah."
North gazed at him very seriously, his eyes twinkling. "Jack has made deal with sandman."
Bunny's ears perked. "Wha?"
North straightened, his jaw setting. "When was last time Easter was snowy?"
Bunny thought back. "Maybe a half a century? Sixty years?"
North nodded. "Around then, Jack makes deal with Sandy. Jack makes warm spot with no cold for Sandy to set his dreams at night, and Sandy gives Jack enough sleep sand to sleep through Easter weekend."
Bunny's eyes went wide. Jack was doing that for him?
"But why would he? Jack doesn't care bout anyone."
North looked at him knowingly. "he cares for you."
Bunny froze, and heat swelled in his chest. Easter had passed a few days ago, and like magic, Jack stepped through the door, a sleepy look on his face.
"Hey Santa, Bunny." He greeted, flying over to look over Norths new project.
Bunny only watched him, noticing the easy, loose swing of his feet and shoulders, so relaxed. He saw Frost melting off the staff and sending trails onto the floor in slushy puddles. Was that a blush on the boys cheeks?
Bunny grabbed Jacks staff, dragging him out into the hallway. Jack tried protesting, but it was a feeble attempt that didn't get him anywhere.
"What are yo-"
Bunnys lips were on his, and Jack found his body flush against Aster's. His hands tangled into fur, and lips nipped at another. Aster will be proud to announce that he had nipped Jack Frosts nose, a joke he'd be sure to use forever.
Jack returned his kisses, leaning into the touch and bending to meet the sweet touch of paws trailing under his jacket.
"It is about time." The pair head North chuckle, but a quick blast of frost from Jack sent the old man running back down the hall.
"He's right, ya know." Jack said between kisses. "I've been waiting."
Bunny only pushed harder onto Jacks willing mouth, his throat purring with a pleasured moan. "Then stop skipping Easter and spend it with me."
Jack stares dumbfounded at Bunny, but the rabbits quick lips and caressing pads took his breath from him.
"Deal."
"What was it like?" North asked, his voice gruff and worried. Aster stood off to the side, not able to look at the little winter sprite laying in bed. Jack was beaten and bruised and mentally tortured with personal nightmares that Bunny couldn't fix, and it burned into the pookas soul.
Pitch had attacked him, kept him for a week, then spat him out in the middle of the Warren on Christmas morning.
"It was... It wa-..." Jack started, but a fit of coughing stopped him midsentence, his body buckling around him and heaving as he fought to breathe. Tooth rushed forward, and Aster found himself flinching at the boys pain. "It was like dying again, but kinda longer... A lot longer."
Something in Bunny snapped then.
"What doya mean, 'again'?" He demanded, and he saw an uneasy look cross every ones face.
No one answered, and Aster felt something twist inside him.
"What. Do. Yah. Mean."
Jack looked out the window. He knew Aster was protective of the Guardians. He knew that the rabbit might have a problem knowing the truth about his past. Tooth had cried for hours, and North locked himself in his office going over the n&n list of the past . Sandy still won't let him go to sleep without an extra "sweet dream" blast. God forbid what Bunny might've done.
"Before I was a Guardian... Before I was Frost... I was alive." Jack said, "I was human." He corrected. He watched Bunny's eyes widen as his jaw dropped. "I had--"
His coughing started up again, and Aster found himself taking a few hesitant steps forward.
Jack waved off Tooth and North as they both reached to help him. His eyes were rimmed with purple, since he hadn't slept since before Pitch had taken him. "I'm fine, I'm fine." He countered. "I had a family." He said to Aster. "A sister, and parents. I walked down to the lake with my sister to go ice skating.. But..."
Asters stomach curled when he heard Jacks throat tighten. Was this the guardian of joy? The same boy who was always smiling and laughing; joking about silly things and playing pranks? Aster had no idea how he had never seen this side of Frost, where Jack was sad and labored and hurting.
"The ice wasn't strong enough, and it was cracking. I got her off, I pushed her off the..." His voice faded, and blue eyes met green. Aster sucked in a breath as realization hit him.
So many things suddenly made sense, like why Jack always moved eggs that were hidden by lakes, or why he took care to stay away from the Easter Dye river. Jack had gone through the ice, and he had died as a teenager buried alive under a frozen prison.
"The ice broke, and carried me down. Next thing I know, the moon is waking me up and my parents can't hear me when I scream at them.. And my sister..." Tears brimmed on his eyes but didn't fall. Tooth was balling again, and Sandy and North led her out. "she wouldn't stop crying.."
Aster didn't know how he's made it across the room, but Jack was suddenly in his arms, and he was shushing and nuzzling the boy. His skin was so cold, but it felt beautiful nestled into his fur, and Aster found a new feeling swelling in his heart that he had never before felt...
... How fitting that Spring would fall for Winter.
JackRabbit Week 2013 Day4
Kind of tired right now but wanted to finish this. I got the idea for this while the song Yellow Tax Cab was stuck in my head.(You know ‘On and on they seem to go, but you don’t know what you got til it’s gone… They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot.’) This is for day 4 & also has a fanfic plot.(Modern day AU)
Aster, Tooth, Sandy, Pitch & North are all in their early twenties. The guardins run a café/shop in a community where everyone knows each other & visit each other. Jack has come into town & is usually seen sitting around the guardians’ shop/café making money singing & playing his guitar. Aster hates him right off the bat & claims Jack is bugging the customers. The others think Jack is ok & offer him a job as a musician & help around the store.
Over time Aster learns to get a long with Jack then realizes he likes the albino. Later on Aster learns Jack isn’t so carefree as he seems to be when Jack asks Aster for shelter because of a crazy storm. It turns out Jack is the legal guardian of Jamie & Sophie, the kids of Jack’s late sister. During the power outage due to the storm Aster sees Jack be a caring mother figure(lol I’m weird) to the kids.
It also turns out that Jack couldn’t play his rent & got kicked out of his apartment so him, Jamie & Sophie had been sleeping in Jack’s old car. The only reason they’re at Aster’s was because Jack trusted Aster the most for help. After words Aster lets the three stay at his place & eventually starts his relationship with Jack.
Later on down the road Pitch comes around making Jack scared. Apparently Pitch was Jack’s old abusive boyfriend & is insane. Pretty much the rest is day to day life, Aster & Jack becoming a couple & Pitch eventually being put in jail.
Here we got Jack playing on his guitar when Baby Tooth comes up playing 'messenger bird’. Guess who sent it.
JackRabbit Week Day 3
Here we got Aster in bunny form(I like the idea of him being gijinki & being able to turn into an anthro rabbit & back) with Sid the South Wind as a kid.
Sid just asked where babies came from causing Aster to have an awkward moment because he doesn’t want to tell Sid -plus Sid’s age- & Aster knows Jack’s sister will hurt him if he tells Sid.
JackRabbit Week 2013 Day 1
It’s JackRabbit week again & I’m doing this on time for once.
Anyone remember my needed to be updated fanfic “Of Snow Angels and Wind Currents”?(This is on DA) This is a spoiler for after the story, might do a fanfic sequel but I need to finish stuff so maybe not & just get pics.
Jack & Nina the North Wind are behind the bolder. Jack probably asked the Stork for help & Jamie ay or may not been behind the gift idea.
