Made my 98 yr old grandfather a Trump voodoo doll for Christmas, he’s already got a pin in that mouth! (he’s orange-er in person, the lighting is not that great)
I met Max Strom about 10 years ago because I participated in his teacher training program. I actually found Max because I was dealing with a pretty significant back injury. Because I was very limited what I could physically do, I was looking for a teacher who didn’t view Yoga as a series of circus tricks or acrobatics. Max taught me that Yoga is about much more than just how well we move through the postures on our mats. He taught me that yoga is also about how well we move through our lives in the world. And with all of the craziness in the world right now, whenever the crazy gets to me, and I’m about to write a post on social media that will inevitably end with #FTrump, I always stop and ask myself this question, “How would Max respond to the crazy?” And inevitably this always gives me pause and keeps me from, first, putting something out there that wouldn’t be helpful, and second, bringing him and what he’s taught me over the years to mind, always calms and centers me, so that I can then formulate something to say that hopefully will be helpful. Isn’t this the reason we practice yoga? As we always say at Yogasmith at the end of every class: our practice is one way to help us become better human beings. Because in the grand scheme of things, it isn’t nearly as important how open our hips are, as how open our hearts are. These are the kinds of things Max travels around the world teaching. So it is always a great privilege to be able to bring him into our community here at the Smith. Thank you, Max for another wonderful and inspiring visit. The world is a better, more forgiving, more open-hearted place because of you, brother. (at Yogasmith)
Lmao.
