Out of all the people Erza could pair y/n with for this mission, it had to be her arch nemesis, Gray Fullbuster.

"Are you kidding me? Why can't I go with Lucy?? We're basically just patrolling different areas of the same place" The elemental mage huffed and sweat dropped when the Titania stared menacingly at her, signalling for her to shut up.

"Y/n, not to offend you but I'd rather go with Natsu, y'know to keep him under control" Lucy motioned to the Dragon Slayer who was being his usual, noisy, chaotic self.

Y/n narrowed her eyes at her best friend, knowing that wasn't the truth. Lucy knew her real feelings for Gray and she secretly shipped them, so the elemental mage knew something was up.

"Besides, I'm not that bad" The girl's throat dried as she felt that familiar cold presence behind her.

"You're right" Y/n turned around to meet the onyx gaze of Gray Fullbuster "You're not bad, you're horrendous"

Natsu snorted and as per the norm, the two Slayers started arguing, only to be stopped by an extremely pissed off Erza.

"GO DO YOUR JOBS!" The redhead boomed and the five others nodded and sprinted in different directions to avoid the wrath of the Titania.

'What a drag' Y/n thought, folding her arms behind her head as she walked. It was burning hot and she had to be with one of the most attractive yet obnoxious men in her guild.

"So..." Gray suddenly spoke trying to make small talk.

The elemental mage opened her mouth to say something snarky but felt vibrations under her feet.

Being an Elemental mage, the girl had control over air, fire, water, earth and light as well as heightened senses of feeling which allowed her to sense the presence of enemies if they were close by.

She gasped as a flash of black coat came into view and dragged Gray to a nearby alleyway

"What the-" The Ice mage started but Y/n cut him off by putting a hand over his mouth, motioning to the opening of the alleyway, where a dark figure was lurking.

"Who's there?!" The figure yelled and Y/n felt Gray hold his breath.

The man approached their hiding place.

He came closer...and closer....and closer.....

Y/n suddenly had an idea and implemented it without thinking.

She put her hands on Gray's cheeks, something which made the latter look at her incredulously.

Without thinking, since the enemy was getting closer, she kissed him.

He was stunned solid for a few seconds but then reciprocated the kiss.

Y/n was taken aback by how it felt. His lips were soft but oh so cold, but it made her feel warm inside.

They didn't stop until they finally heard footsteps a few feet away from them.

"Oh, to be young and in love" The two heard the man say and then heard him walk away.

The comment caught y/n off guard and brought her back from the clouds.

She stood up, her face red at the realization that she'd been straddling Gray.

He smirked, wiping his lower lip.

"I thought you hated me?" He teased

"Things change..." the elemental mage was rendered speechless for once in her life.

"You're cute when you're in denial" He hummed "Go on, i won't bite. just say you love me."

"I-I don't" Y/n scoffed "Besides, don't we have a mission to finish?"

She turned around to avoid showing him her flushed cheeks.

She wanted to kiss him again but would rather die than admit.

Little did she know he yearned the same....
