Hi Avannak! I loved your headcanons about Hiccup and Astrid's daughter. I adored the doll that Valka made for Jojo. (I thought it looked like Stitch) :D
GAH! And I feel like I haven’t spoken to you in forever! How are you dear? <3
But yes, let’s talk about this doll. It’s just one of many. Valka—having missed out on being a mother—takes full g-ma responsibilities. Part of those responsibilities are making stuffies for her little Jojo.
(omg, it would be a great opportunity to introduce silly DWA characters. Yes, a Stitch. Maybe a Donkey. Maybe a Chel doll)
And here’s the thing about these stuffed animals—Gobber thinks it’s great because it keeps Valka out of the kitchen. Astrid thinks it’s sweet and adorable. Jojo loves them. Loves them. By the time she’s 4 she can make stuffed animal forts (further-headcanon that she grows up to have real architectural vision).
But Hiccup? Hiccup secretly finds them creepy. Don’t get me wrong—he appreciates the gesture and he loves the joy they create in his family—but there’s something about them that raises the hair on the back of his neck. Worse yet—Jojo leaves them in his bed. Under his work table. Drops them on his face as he’s sleeping…
One time she left one sitting dangerously close to a roaring hearth that cooked their winter stew—it had a missing eye and teethmarks all down the arm (both dragon and human). Hiccup had to fight down every impulse not to casually kick it into the fire.
