Pregnancy and Childbirth Thoughts
Watching a documentary about childbirth and my advice to pregnant women in the US, please please as somebody who had given birth in a hospital, DO YOUR RESEARCH AND KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. I wanted a natural birth. I walked into the hospital for labor and within an hour of me getting there, they already had mentioned the word c section. Without giving my body a real chance to go into labor. They used pitocin, they tried to speed it up as much as possible and it all seemed very planned and calculated. Please dont get me wrong because not all women want the same experience from childbirth. A c section, when not a real emergency c section, is doctor friendly. He showed up shortly after 5. He delivered 5 babies via c section including mine. And was home in time for dinner. And I felt like I was duped out of a real birthing experience. I wanted a natural labor. I wanted to have a real moment as a strong woman who has this amazing power to give birth. The doctors never really cared. They had their agenda and never once considered mine. C section recoveries are long. I still cant cough or sneeze without feeling pressure on my cut. My lower stomach is still numb. You dont see your baby for an hour when youre in isolation after birth most of which I spent crying. I didnt spend time with my son until the next day, at least not in the right mind. I woke up in a fuzzy state, it was just kind of not what I wanted. In retrospect, I knew what I wanted from labor and I wish I was more informed on how to get it. I wish I had considered more options. I wish I could have had access to a midwife which these days has been turned into a sort of negative connotation which is just weird. This is not a post to bash c sections or women who want or need fast births. I know how the pain felt early on. And I would probably want to give up halfway through. But I wish somebody had held my hand and let me work through that pain on my own. I wanted to do it. Thats just me. And I know there are still women today who feel the same way I do. And to those women I recommend speaking to a midwife. You can have both a doctor and a midwife and they work together. There are so many options to make that childbirth experience the exact kind of experience YOU imagined in your head. Do not let the insurance companies and doctors discourage you from getting what you want from your pregnancy. Of course most insurance companies put midwives down. They cost less. Hospitals are more of assembly lines. Insurance companies will make you fight for it. But if thats what you want please dont be discouraged. I hope you get what you want.

For those of you who would like to support March of Dimes and the research to help protect and save premature infants and babies, please please donate. This is an easy way to give back to the medical community for the help they offered your children and to help friends and family that have high-risk pregnancies.
Even if it is 10 dollars it makes a huge difference. We only have a couple days before the walk and any donation you make is also tax deductible. I donated 30 myself and they sent me envelope address stamps. If you have ever wanted to help a great charity and just never known how, this is a great opportunity. Any bit helps
