A Quick History of Fydoria
I am rushing to finish the Quick Histories before the Royal Masquerade debuts, so bear with me as I get the last three kingdoms done, starting with Fydoria.
Fydoria is the first Kingdom other than Stormholt we are introduced too, when King Ammanth and Prince Tevan are introduced first at the gathering at Stormholt, though how much influence Fydoria has in the series is dependant on whether the player saves Tevan otherwise we do not see much of the kingdom until Book 3.
Fydoria has an unusual naming convention, Tevan and his father are Drammir, but Tevan’s sister is Aurynn Ammanth, she has her father’s first name as her surname, something we only see in Fydoria as Zenobia, Rowan and Kenna all share a surename with the rest of their family. If Tevan dies in Book One, rule of Fydoria falls to Aurynn.
Fydoria seems to have had a cordial relationship with the other kingdoms in the days before the war. Kenna mentions visiting Fydoria and she and her mother are very familiar with King Ammanth and his stories and we see in a flashback that the Drammir family visited Abanthus at least once. We also know that, along with Bellemere, Fydoria was one of the kingdoms who agreed to the alliance with the lure of a possible marriage arrangement with Stormholt.
Fydoria is known for it’s beautiful gardens, lavish parties and mangificent libraries. The people are not fighters by nature, though they manage to fight off Nevrakis troops. They also have a port, but no noteable navy and the castle is less secure than the Abanthus fortress at Lykos, which is why Azura chooses Ennan to land her navy.
Because Tevan (or Aurynn) surrenders to Azura, Ennan is left unharmed after the war and the kingdom of Fydoria pledges help to the other kingdoms, particularly Stormholt, in their rebuilding efforts and promising a strong friendship and alliance with Stormholt even if Kenna chooses another suitor, while if she chooses Tevan, the two kingdoms will now be united moving forward.
The people of Fydoria are often considered flamboyant and silly, with lots of emphasis on parties and in addition to the gardens and libraries, Fydoria is also known for it’s wine. Yet, Ennan is also hope to the greatest library in the Five Kingdoms and they appear to be able to balance the pursuit of pleasure with the pursuit of knowledge. Tevan, along with Annelyse, also understands the importance of diplomacy and that charm and persuasion are important tools for a ruler to have.
