Personally I like to think that he never believed the lie that Flynn killed Lorena and Iris, and is trying to find his little bro to prove his innocence.
I heard someone was looking for a fancast for a grown Gabriel, so I just thought I'd throw out my two cents.
Also... He's two inches shorter that Goran. So you could have fun with older vs. taller, and who the "Big Brother" really is.
Edit: I discovered that the question was for a specific fic I haven't read. This is just my general headcanon.
