Does that mean that Nina want to settle with Michael instead? And you ignore the Barnacle Bay version of her right? I think you mostly ignore the TS3 lore stuff (your version of Lolita does'nt even look much like the TS3 one. The original Lolita is not that ginger, she's more... brown with yellowish-orange streaks. She DOES have some of the personality, though.)
Nina in (Un)Pleasantview would not mind settling down with Michael if she ever had to settle down (a sentiment he shares). Of course, she’d get Dina’s approval first (because she knows Dina has an inkling of romantic feelings for him too). I don’t see anything wrong with sisters falling for the same person. But I don’t see Nina and Dina as the type to be involved with the same person at the same time, especially behind each other’s backs. And since they are so close, they’d never let a man (or woman) get in the way of their relationship either. They are both smart enough to let go if such a situation arises.
My choice to ignore a lot of canon stuff (especially from TS3 & TS4) and having weird pairings - that’s me in a nutshell. I have been writing fanfiction for several fandoms (not just Sims) for about 6 years now. I can probably count the fics I have written that follows canon to the tee on one hand. Doing the unusual is my thing - I love taking characters I love and completely turning their lives upside down. I like writing something that is different and not the retelling of the same old thing. Of course, canon is good too and the same stories told differently can be quite entertaining, but I prefer to read those, not write them. Does that make sense?
As for Nina and Dina in Barnacle Bay, I don’t know, I guess the way EAxis set up the scenario just rubs me in the wrong way. I have never seen Dina as a heartless, evil gold digger. Nor have I ever seen Nina as a slut. I don’t think being compassionate and yearning for riches has to be exclusive. Nor do I see loving more than one person as taboo either. And the beauty of Sims is, you can do what you want. I’ve always felt that the premades’ stories are really just there as a guide. It’s not law. And I have nothing against those who do write Dina as the evil gold digger. In fact, I quite enjoy seeing what others do, regardless of my own opinions.
As for Lolita, her physical differences were partly for story purposes and also partly due to my attempt to stick with the base TS2 hair colours because I’m quite attached to my Maxis match. And since I knew from the beginning she would be one of my oldest characters, it meant lots of physical changes over the centuries, especially her hair. And I get very impatient with hair recolouring. I’ve already had to do several for Hecate, which has driven me bonkers because some hairs really does not match her face at all. My pickiness will be my downfall, just you wait.
And one more thing and then I will (finally) shut up. My mood and ideas are always in flux. One moment I have Nina and Don together in my game, the next I have Nina with Cassandra. I’m open to experiments and change. Some of which, over the 9 years of my playing Sims, have been quite bizarre. I’m just weird that way.
Golly. Long, answer is long.
