I have. Opinions. About OPLA Miss Goldenweek.
It’s 3am when I’m writing this so I might be able to talk abt this more in the morning but there’s something really gross to me about the way Miss Goldenweek’s character has been approached in the live action, and I can’t really pinpoint it but I really, REALLY hate the ‘scary little girl’ trope? Esp bc in this scenario the ‘little girl’ is 16??
Like call me too woke if you will but idk I didn’t enjoy hearing her talking abt dollies & everything considering she canonically is a 16 year old girl… I just found it kinda infantilizing & kinda weird? It really annoyed me lol.
Also frankly while I understand making Mr. 3 come across as crazier (bc let’s be real his whole plot in the anime comes across as pretty insane), Miss Goldenweek… never gave those vibes? She was fairly chill in the anime from what I recall. Strong in terms of her ability, yes, but she mostly seemed content with her craft which I found to be an interesting sort of duality between her and Mr. 3 because both of them are artists.
Her defeat was also super annoying as well, I actually literally couldn’t stand looking at her on screen lol it was so hard to not skip past her </3
I love OPLA!! Don’t get me wrong!! I’ve mostly come to accept that it simply takes place in a different universe than OP and so characters will be different but MAN this one really annoys me.
